Telecom Analyst Berg Insight Says Insurance Companies Pushing for Wireless M2M in Security systems
Insurance companies across Europe pay close attention to the latest achievements in wireless M2M security technology, according to a new report from the telecom analyst firm Berg Insight. Today, clients are frequently advised to install security systems that take advantage of wireless communication networks and satellite positioning when applying for an insurance policy. “If you buy a high-class luxury car in any European country today, your motor insurer will most probably require that it is equipped with a GSM/GPS anti-theft systemâ€, says Tobias Ryberg, senior analyst at Berg Insight. He adds that insurance industry organisations in four European countries – Belgium, the Netherlands, Norway and the UK – have developed national industry standards for approval of vehicle tracking devices in order to give guidance to their customers regarding the choice of car security systems. Samsung Unveils IP-based Multimedia Subsystem – Enables Global Availability of Converged Telecommunications Services via WiMAX Network
At the annual CTIA Wireless 2006 trade show, Samsung Telecommunications America (Samsung) unveiled today its IP-based Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) solution that will enable the global availability of converged telecommunications services via a WiMAX network. The latest product portfolio consists of two elements that support the IMS solution — the Radio Access Station (RAS) and the Access Control Router (ACR).
The IMS network, which is the basis of Samsung’s WiMAX platform, will deliver high-speed services like voice, video conferencing and instant messaging, to rural and suburban locations not accessible by current technology. Sage Telecom Signs Wholesale Services Agreement with Verizon to Expand Texas Operations
Sage Telecom today announced that it has entered into its first agreement with Verizon, a commercial agreement to obtain wholesale local phone services. This new multi-year agreement with Verizon will help Sage serve communities in Texas that are outside the reach of Sage’s existing service area — and elsewhere throughout the Verizon footprint nationally.
Sage is one of the largest competitive local exchange carriers focused on residential and small business customers in suburban and rural communities.
