GN Combines Industry-Leading Jabra and GN Netcom Brands to Create the World’s Largest Headset Company

GN, parent company of GN Mobile and GN Netcom, announced they are combining their two headset businesses to create the world’s largest manufacturer of headsets for hands-free communication such as the popular GN 9350, the GN 9330, and the GN 9330 USB. The new business will employ about 1,800 people and expects revenues for 2006 of approx. DKK 2.7bn (US$450 million) in the former GN Mobile and at least DKK 1.8bn (US$300 million) in the former GN Netcom.

“Some years ago, we set out our vision for the future; one in which everyone will be using wireless headsets whether they’re in the office, at home or on the move,” said Hans Henrik Lund, president of the new headset business. “Today’s announcement is part of the changes we are implementing in order to make our vision a reality.”

As the leading innovators in the global headset industry, GN Netcom and GN Mobile have developed and launched some of the most successful products in the history of the wireless headset market, including the widely popular Jabra mobile headsets and GN Netcom office headset solutions. Both brands are distributed through 90,000 sales channels worldwide, including carriers and system integrators as well as leading consumer electronics chains and mobile phone specialists. Veramark Announces First Quarter Results

Veramark Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB: VERA) announced financial results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2006. For the three months ended March 31 Veramark reported sales of $2,444,000 which compared with sales of $2,626,000 for the first quarter of 2005. Veramark reported a net loss of $57,000, or $0.01 per share, a slight improvement from a net loss of $85,000, also $0.01 per share, reported for the first quarter ended March 31, 2005.

Veramark’s President and Chief Executive Officer, David G. Mazzella, commenting on the results stated,

“Though first quarter results did not meet our expectations, revenues generated from VeraSMART, our enterprise level product increased 20% in the first quarter of 2006 versus the prior year. Secondly, orders booked for the first quarter were 14% higher than for the same quarter of 2005. The first quarter has historically been Veramark’s weakest quarter in terms of orders booked.”

Mr. Mazzella stated further, “During the first quarter we recruited additional marketing and sales personnel. We added six new sales people, including a new Director of Business Development and Marketing and a new Director of International Business Development, both of whom previously were employed by major competitors. Both bring valuable experience and market expertise to Veramark.” [Read more…]

Rapid Link Signs Agreement to Acquire Telenational Communications

Rapid Link, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: RPID.OB), one of the leading providers of Internet Phone services to niche markets like the military, today announced signing of the definitive Stock Purchase Agreement for the acquisition of Telenational Communications, Inc. The closing of the Telenational transaction is contingent upon Rapid Link’s receipt of necessary financing to complete the acquisition. The Company is working with a well-known investment banking firm to assist it in the fundraising process and has been in ongoing discussions with a number of potential investors. Rapid Link remains confident that it will secure the necessary financing on terms that are acceptable to it within the time period required to consummate the Telenational transaction.

Telecom Analyst Berg Insight Says Insurance Companies Pushing for Wireless M2M in Security systems

Insurance companies across Europe pay close attention to the latest achievements in wireless M2M security technology, according to a new report from the telecom analyst firm Berg Insight. Today, clients are frequently advised to install security systems that take advantage of wireless communication networks and satellite positioning when applying for an insurance policy. “If you buy a high-class luxury car in any European country today, your motor insurer will most probably require that it is equipped with a GSM/GPS anti-theft system”, says Tobias Ryberg, senior analyst at Berg Insight. He adds that insurance industry organisations in four European countries – Belgium, the Netherlands, Norway and the UK – have developed national industry standards for approval of vehicle tracking devices in order to give guidance to their customers regarding the choice of car security systems. Comverse to Acquire VoIP Application Leader Netcentrex SA

Samsung Unveils IP-based Multimedia Subsystem – Enables Global Availability of Converged Telecommunications Services via WiMAX Network

At the annual CTIA Wireless 2006 trade show, Samsung Telecommunications America (Samsung) unveiled today its IP-based Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) solution that will enable the global availability of converged telecommunications services via a WiMAX network. The latest product portfolio consists of two elements that support the IMS solution — the Radio Access Station (RAS) and the Access Control Router (ACR).

The IMS network, which is the basis of Samsung’s WiMAX platform, will deliver high-speed services like voice, video conferencing and instant messaging, to rural and suburban locations not accessible by current technology.
