Tango Telecom Launches the IMS Evolution

Posted on February 13, 2007 Written by oss

Tango Telecom, a leading provider of real-time convergent charging and intelligent messaging software, has announced the launch of the latest release of iAX IMS, its suite of key IMS enablers.

This latest release of iAX IMS, Tango Telecom’s suite of key IMS enablers provides carrier-class gateways between IMS networks, and legacy network services and protocols. The Tango IM-SSF and IM-GWF are key enablers to the gradual migration of all services to the new IMS core.

The IM-SSF provides an interface between the IMS domain and the CAMEL service environment. It converts between ISC and CAP. The IM-SSF acts as a SIP-AS towards the IMS core network and at the same time acts as gsmSSF towards the gsmSCF. Real-time charging capabilities for all new IMS services are enabled by the IM-GWF. The IM-GWF provides a SIP interface to the S-CSCF and the Diameter interface to the Online Charging System.

Tango first deployed the iAX IMS to converge legacy CS1 INAP services with next generation SIP based services in 2001. Since then the iAX IMS has evolved to provide the standard IM SSF and IM GWF capabilities, as well as providing a more extensible range of gateway and protocol convertion capabilities for all legacy SS7 and IN protocols ( INAP variants, CAP, WIN) and a range of other service control interfaces (Parley, Diameter, Radius).

“Research shows that operators prefer to adopt a phased approach to the implementation of an IMS infrastructure. They cannot afford to do a big bang replacement of the complete SS7 network, services and service enablers. It’s an evolution, rather than a revolution”, explaned Richard Choi , VP Sales & Marketing for Tango Telecom.

“iAX IMS is an ideal solution for operators to begin a phased approach to deploying IMS, sitting between the new IMS core and legacy service networks and legacy and converged charging systems, ensuring all new services can be charged for by the new or existing charging infrastructure”, he added.
