Tango Telecom, a leading provider of real-time convergent charging and intelligent messaging software, has announced its planned expansion into the Middle East market.

Speaking today at a Trade Mission to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates , led by the Irish Premier, An Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern T.D., Rory O’Toole, Tango Telecom’s Business Development Manager for the Middle East , announced Tango Telecom’s plans to extend their operations in the region. This announcement follows the recent contract win and successful implementation of Tango Telecom’s converged charging solutions for SMS and GPRS with a mobile operator in the region.

O’Toole also announced the regional launch of Tango Telecom’s class leading short message anti-spam platform, Tango Anti-Spam SFG which provides comprehensive anti-threat capabilities enabling operators to protect their network and subscribers from fraud, spam and malware threats. This anti-spam solution defends against a wide variety of abuses, including denial-of-service attacks, flooding and offensive content offering operators a solution to protect their subscribers from inappropriate, harmful and unsolicited content.

“While SMS Spam has yet to reach the levels of email Spam, it is a serious and rapidly growing problem. Spam detracts from the benefits of SMS as a legitimate communication and revenue generating tool for operators and can lead to subscriber churn and loss of revenue, with some researchers quoting a loss in excess of $2billion per annum. A comprehensive solution such as Tango SMS Anti-Spam enables operators to combat these threats effectively regardless of where they originate – the home or foreign network. We are currently in talks with a number of operators in the region regarding their SMS Spam issues.” O’Toole explains.

Tango Telecom will be exhibiting at Stand C56 Hall1 at the 3GSM World Congress 2007 February 12-15, 2007 in Barcelona , Spain and will be to provide more information about their anti-spam solution, this recent contract win and other successful implementations.
