Tango Telecom Implements New SMSCs for Bakrie Telekom

Posted on December 1, 2008 Written by oss

Tango Telecom and Lintas Teknologi announced the successful deployment and launch of two new SMSCs for Bakrie Telekom in Indonesia. The Surabaya and Medan deployments provide geographic redundancy and a significant boost to the capacity for the Bakrie SMS operations.

This latest deployment follows a record month or SMS traffic in Indonesia, where the Tango SMSC handled 1.3 billion SMS in Oct 2008 for Bakrie alone.

Tango initially deployed the first CDMA SMSC site in Jakarta for Bakrie in late 2007. This deployment included delivery of on-net and all off net traffic, as well as interworking and transcoding across both GSM and CDMA network. Bakrie further commissioned Tango Telecom to expand the Jakarta SMSC in early 2008 and ordered the 2 new SMSC at the end of July.

Mr. Radhakant Das, General Manager Core & VAS Engineering for Bakrie, stated, “Thanks to the iAX™ SMS carrier grade platform from Tango, we have been able to grow with our customers and offer reliable delivery and performance. Tango has been quite open and flexible with respect to integration of new features and functionality along with other elements. With the addition of these geographically decentralized nodes at Surabaya and Medan, quality and availability of SMS services will increase to good extent giving Bakrie a competitive edge in the market.”

Tango Telecom is a leading provider of Advanced Messaging and Real-Time Charging Solutions to operators worldwide. The iAX™ Solution Portfolio enables the rapid launch of new and enhanced services to maximize revenue potential, increase return on capital and minimize operational costs. Tango Telecom’s global customer base includes operators such as Turkcell, Iusacell, Indosat, Bakrie Telecom, Vodafone, the Zain Group, and America Movil.
