ETI Software Solutions Deploys Metaswitch Interface at Bristol Tennessee Essential Services

Posted on April 18, 2007 Written by oss

ETI Software Solutions, Inc. (www.etisoftware.com), the industry leading developer of service activation software that automates provisioning of FTTP, RF and IPTV video and DSL technologies, has added support for MetaSwitch’s softswitch. This softswitch is a next generation architecture that is being rapidly adopted by telecommunication service providers in place of more expensive and complicated circuit switches of the past.

When combined with ETI’s Telephone Provisioning Module, Triad’s MetaSwitch interface turns up and activates a telephone number in the softswitch, then assigns any combination of call features which the subscriber has ordered.

Bristol Tennessee Essential Services (BTES) already uses Triad to automate provisioning of its FTTP network, so with ETI’s support for MetaSwitch, it has fully automated line service activation from the physical voice port on the customer premise FTTP gateway to the voice gateway, as well as the MetaSwitch to set the telephone number and call features.

“Softswitch technology from MetaSwitch is quickly gaining momentum with broadband providers who are deploying next generation technologies to provide voice services,” says Greg Gross, Director of Product Management, ETI. “A number of our customers and prospects are already using the MetaSwitch product or are planning to deploy it. Combined with our fiber and video provisioning capabilities, it’s a homerun for our customers.”

“With Triad we’re able to activate and control all of our services automatically once our customer service representative enters the information into our billing system,” says Dr. R. Michael Browder, CEO, BTES. “Our network operations technicians have better things to do with their time then manually provision our FTTP networks, voice gateway and digital video controller.”

“Keeping abreast of network technologies our customers must support is an ongoing process for ETI and always a top priority in terms of research and development,” says Peter Pifer, President and CEO, ETI. “Creating interfaces to leading softswitch technologies continues our tradition of future-proofing our customers and leveraging their initial investment in Triad.”
