Intec launches Intec CEMS

Posted on May 3, 2006 Written by oss

Intec, a supplier of BSS/OSS solutions to the global telecom industry, announced today the availability of the new Intec Centralized Error Management System (Intec CEMS). Using Intec CEMS, service providers can cut revenue losses by dramatically reducing error volumes, lowering the costs of managing errors, and recovering revenue from unbilled usage and service order errors. One major carrier using Intec CEMS recorded a 90% reduction in its aged error write-offs and a 60% reduction in its error volumes. The product has already been short listed for an award, in the Best New Product category of the TeleStrategies 2006 Billing & OSS World Excellence Awards for Achievement in Innovation.

“We’re very excited to be bringing such a strong new product to the market, particularly one that has a proven track record in major carrier environments,” said Intec CEO, Kevin Adams. “It helps solve a real, profit impacting problem for any carrier, and its centralized approach is particularly relevant as next-generation services become more complex and more valuable.”

Intec CEMS addresses a common but increasingly costly problem for carriers: errors between the services supplied to or ordered by customers, and what customers are actually billed for. Intec CEMS has been proven in Tier 1 carrier production environments where on average 90% of all incoming errors are applied to case logic or corrected automatically within Intec CEMS without user intervention. Correcting errors automatically allows carriers to avoid the revenue loss associated with errors that go undetected, uncorrected, or allowed to age to uncollectable status. [Read more…]

Intec Billing Signs Contract with Verizon Dominicana For New InterconnecT Automated Reconciliation System

Posted on December 14, 2005 Written by oss

Intec Telecom Systems, a global provider of business and operations support systems (BSS/OSS) for fixed, mobile and next generation networks, has signed a contract with Verizon Dominicana for Intec’s InterconnecT Automated Reconciliation (InterconnecT AR) solution. The deal will allow Verizon’s Dominican Republic subsidiary to automate the dispute management process of incoming invoices and outgoing bills for interconnection charges.

Verizon Dominicana will use InterconnecT AR to improve its billing processes substantially, and the added capabilities in InterconnecT AR will further enhance Verizon Dominicana’s billing and revenue generation.

The deal extends a long-term relationship with Verizon, which has a global framework agreement with Intec for Intec’s InterconnecT carrier-to-carrier billing product and its Inter-mediatE mediation technology.

“Adding automated bill reconciliation to its existing InterconnecT system will allow Verizon Dominicana to save time and money on its internal processes, as well as demonstrating best practice in settlements with its partners,” said Intec CEO Kevin Adams.

Interconnect bill reconciliation is a time-consuming and expensive process for operators. Such bills commonly represent tens or even hundreds of millions of dollars of both revenue and cost to carriers, and even small delays and inaccuracies in settlement can have a substantial impact on cashflow and profitability.

Speedy resolution of disputes is key in ensuring the robust profitability of an operator.

InterconnecT AR enables automation of the process for comparing interconnect charge information from multiple interconnect accounting systems. It automates bill reconciliation and dispute management processes through exchange, comparison and settlement of aggregated billing data. This helps avoid the overhead of manual handling of individual transactions – reducing settlement time and improving the accuracy of interconnect charges. InterconnecT AR supports both generic reconciliation and reconciliation using established standards such as CODIFI and DETRAF.

Automated reconciliation offers the opportunity not only to speed up the settlement process, but also to make better use of resources, reduce operating costs and streamline business processes. Automatic reconciliation can shorten settlement cycles and therefore significantly reduce the risk of disputes. Cash-flow management is improved, as amounts payable and receivable can be traced and monitored closely and comprehensively at all stages. Automatic reconciliation need not be restricted to a simple comparison of rated information: it can also be used to identify areas of dispute and suggest potential resolutions. It can also provide automatic adjustments. Financial risk can be further minimised by operators agreeing to pay an amount on the understanding that there will be a later adjustment after reconciliation.

Intec Billing Reinforces Russian Telecom OSS Market Presence With New Moscow Office

Posted on December 7, 2005 Written by oss

Intec Telecom Systems, a leading OSS/BSS software vendor for fixed, mobile and next-generation networks, has opened a Moscow office to serve both Russia and the wider CIS. This local presence is a response to Intec’s high-profile customer base in the region, and to the considerable growth potential of the area.

“Intec has performed well in Russia and the CIS, with a series of major wins over the last couple of years,” said Intec CEO, Kevin Adams. “The growth of both fixed and mobile services across the regions is driving operators to review their support systems and, in many cases, initiate new OSS/BSS projects to deal with escalating subscriber volumes and advanced services.”

The Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications of the Russian Federation has recently approved rules, called the ‘interconnection rules’, with substantial impact on many areas of the telecommunications industry in Russia. Key areas relate to capacity, licenses for international long distance traffic, voice over IP traffic and interconnect pricing. Intec InterconnecT is compatible with these requirements and is helping its customers to fully meet their regulatory obligations.

VimpelCom, an established Intec InterconnecT billing technology customer, added Intec DCP (Dynamic Charging Platform), Inter-mediatE multi-service mediation and InterconnecT Optimised Routing in 2005, to support delivery of advanced mobile services to one of the world’s largest subscriber bases of more than 32 million customers.

Golden Telecom, Inc. chose Intec’s market leading carrier-to-carrier billing application, InterconnecT, in May 2004, to enable multiple, complex, dynamic and ever-increasing partnership agreements.

“Our customer footprint is spreading across both Russia and the CIS, as leading carriers recognise the need for next-generation solutions capable of handling large customer volumes,” added Intec EMEA MD, Peter Deane. “Our new Moscow office is based on the Intec policy of locating expertise and resources close to the customer, and will enable us to serve both new and existing clients from a central location, at a time when the region is undergoing deregulation of the international & long distance market, new legislation and developments such as CPP (calling party pays).”
