Aircel Implements Oracle Software to Support Aggressive Growth

Posted on February 19, 2009 Written by oss

Leading Indian Mobile Operator Deploys Oracle® Communications Service Fulfillment Suite, Oracle’s Siebel CRM, Oracle Fusion Middleware and Oracle Database

Aircel Limited, India’s leading GSM mobile operator, has implemented multiple Oracle applications to help drive its aggressive growth plans. With more than 15 million customers in 10 Indian states, Aircel plans to expand its operations to at least seven more states this month and also launch WiMAX services soon.

The Oracle applications – including components of Oracle® Communications Service Fulfillment Suite, Siebel CRM, Oracle Fusion Middleware, Oracle Database and Oracle Real Application Clusters – will help Aircel quickly launch its operations in new markets and provide a platform to offer new services, build stronger brands and lower operational costs.

Wipro Limited, a member of the Oracle PartnerNetwork and partner for Aircel’s IT transformation and maintenance for nine years, completed the implementation for Aircel in less than five months.

Oracle Communications Software Powers Aircel

Aircel deployed components of Oracle Communications Service Fulfillment Suite including Oracle Communications Service Activation, an automated platform for activation of complex services in a streamlined manner across multiple technology domains for both wireline and wireless service providers.

With Siebel CRM, Aircel can integrate internal business and customer-facing processes for better customer service. By providing a real-time, 360-degree view of the customer, and by sharing customer data across all channels and customer-facing departments, such as sales, service, call center and marketing, Siebel CRM enables Aircel to provide a unified customer experience and helps the company aggressively acquire and retain customers across its various lines of business.

Aircel also implemented Oracle Identity Management, a component of Oracle Fusion Middleware that allows Aircel to manage the end-to-end lifecycle of user identities across its various departments. Aircel expects the scalable Oracle Identity Management solution to provide a high return on investment with improved security. In addition, the company expects Oracle Identity Management to help it realize significant cost savings by automating provisioning of user accounts, dramatically reducing help desk calls, streamlining compliance audit and reporting, consolidating identity silos and allowing rapid integration with enterprise applications.

With Oracle Enterprise Applications Integration Services, Aircel will be able to reduce the time and cost associated with integrating business applications with a comprehensive set of solutions based on a service-oriented architecture (SOA). Aircel expects these solutions will enable more efficient business operations, consistent and accurate information and greater business insight throughout the company’s various enterprise systems.

Finally, Aircel has used Oracle Database to standardize its IT infrastructure and manage it more efficiently. The use of Oracle Real Application Clusters has helped Aircel achieve the performance, high scalability and fault tolerance required for continual system operations.

“To maintain our leading edge in the competitive communications industry, we are investing in expanding our pan-Indian operations. After evaluating various solutions in the market, we chose Oracle as it offers best-of-breed communications software and has a proven track record for delivering business value in the communications industry. Oracle offers us the competitive advantage of reaching the market faster with integrated solutions – and saves us time and money otherwise spent on managing multiple vendors. In addition, the flexibility and scalability of Oracle’s applications and infrastructure will enable us to meet our aggressive growth plans and rapidly launch next-generation services,” said Ravinder Jain, chief information officer, Aircel.

“Aircel’s selection of Oracle validates our leadership and our commitment to the communications industry in India. By leveraging Oracle solutions, Aircel will be able to rapidly deliver next-generation services and content. At the same time, Aircel will be able to increase customer satisfaction and loyalty, reduce operating costs, and improve management reporting and control to capitalize on the fast-growing Indian mobile market,” said Raghav Sahgal, vice president, Oracle Communications.
