NetMotion Wireless

NetMotion Wireless, a leading provider of mobile productivity and management software, has appointed a number of executives to new positions within the company. Additionally, based on record 2007 results, the company announced plans to expand its workforce by 20 percent in 2008.

Joe Savarese, formerly Chief Technical Officer, will now assume the role of Senior Vice President (SVP) and General Manager, Mobility XE(tm), the company’s flagship product. Tom Johnston, formerly SVP of products and marketing, will now assume the role of SVP and General Manager for an emerging business unit. Andy Willett, SVP of Sales and Business Development, will also assume responsibility for Worldwide Marketing.

“2007 was a banner year for NetMotion Wireless with revenue up 65 percent,” said Bob Hunsberger, CEO, NetMotion Wireless. “Today’s announcement will enable us to capitalize on our successes even further. Joe, Tom and Andy are exceptionally talented executives and are committed to extending our leadership position in mobile productivity software and services.”

Leader Both Nationally and Locally
NetMotion’s Mobile Virtual Private Network (VPN), Mobility XE, boosts mobile worker productivity by allowing them to stay connected to critical applications, roam seamlessly between multiple connections, and maintain applications even when users move in and out of wireless coverage areas. Used by more than 1,200 businesses and government agencies and more than 250,000 mobile workers worldwide, NetMotion was ranked as the country’s eighth fastest growing wireless company as part of Deloitte’s “Wireless Fast 50″ in 2007.

Locally, the company was named as the second fastest growing technology firm in the state as part of the Washington State “Fast 50″ technology awards by Deloitte, and was named one of the “100 Best Companies to Work For” by Washington CEO Magazine. Today, the company supports the mobile deployments of more than 80 businesses, government agencies, utilities and public safety forces in the state of Washington including: the Seattle Police and Fire Departments, the King County Sheriff’s Office, the Port of Seattle, Seattle Public Utilities, Puget Sound Energy and the Washington State Patrol.

Executive Backgrounds
Joe Savarese was a co-founder of NetMotion and was one of the original architects of the company’s mobile productivity software. Prior to joining WRQ in 1996, a networking software company which spun out NetMotion in 2001, Savarese was the Senior Network Architect at Intermec and a principal design engineer in the development of one of the early wireless LAN systems. He holds multiple patents and has several others pending.

Prior to joining NetMotion, Tom Johnston served as a Managing Director at Alexander Hutton Venture Partners, one of NetMotion’s primary investors, and also held a seat on the NetMotion board. Before joining Alexander Hutton, he held several senior product management positions with Microsoft Corporation including responsibility for the Windows & Internet Explorer client platforms, Windows NT Server, and a number of security products.

Andy Willett joined NetMotion Wireless in June 2002. Prior to NetMotion, Willett was a Vice President within the data division of AT&T Wireless and held senior positions at Sprint. In those roles, Willett had responsibility for defining and marketing consumer data offerings, web-enabled phones, mobile data applications and other advanced wireless technologies.
