Efficient and High Flexible IP Service Provisioning

With a turnover of more than EUR 2.1 billion (as of today, USD $3.3 billion), Arcor is the number one solution of the alternative telecommunication providers in the German fixed network market. Arcor offers a wide spectrum of voice, internet, and data services for private and business customers over its wide area voice and data network throughout Germany.

The firm’s overall challenge is to provide efficient and highly flexible service production with the following breakdown of specific challenges: automated configuration of different network elements in the Arcor IP network, e.g. IADs (Integrated Access Devices), AAA, and SIP-Server; efficient provisioning of standardized private customer Services (triple play): xDSL connection, telephone services (inclusive full ISDN substitution over VoIP with appropriate features), and IP-TV services; effective activation and configuration of complex, individualized business customer products (Arcor Next Generation Services); integration of different portals for subscriber self-care and self-provisioning; and guaranteed transaction security, stability and high performance.

The Solution for the Xyna Service Factory for Arcor would be composed of the following items:

*** Speed: fast integration of the Arcor specific services;

*** Cost Optimization: integration in the existing BSS and OSS system environment at Arcor through the standard-based, generic interface concept of Xyna;

*** Security, Performance, and Scalability: location-redundant Oracle RAC installation (Real Application Cluster); and

*** Stability: system sizing, performance, and availability tests at Sun Microsystems Benchmark Center.

The Result would be Optimized Order-to-Service Processes consisting of the following items:

*** Clear compensation of the provisioning times for IP services;

*** Fast integration of new IP services in the provisioning system;

*** Transaction security and high performance order processing; and

*** Reliability: guaranteed high availability of 99.999%.

The consequent, future oriented technology of the Xyna Service Factory gives Arcor an ideal position. So, even in the future, they also can offer their customers quick, secure, and flexible innovation, fitted communication and application services.
