Primal Solutions Makes Available Carrier-Grade Voice Profitability Services Online

Posted on April 11, 2007 Written by oss

Primal Solutions (OTCBB: PSOL), the leading provider of IP transaction management platforms, used in delivering carrier-grade charging and settlement management solutions, has recently announced that it is now making available online the very same Voice Profitability management tools that are used by Tier 1 MSO service providers.

The toolkit is being offered as a web-enabled Software as a Service (SaaS) solution. The Voice Profitability service includes a wide range of features and tools that assist in maximizing voice service profitability by addressing revenue management issues, such as: third party reconciliation and settlement, high usage tracking, margin assurance (rate plan optimization) and other issues that negatively impact profitability. Using these tools, Primal’s Tier 1 customers have saved millions of dollars a year.

“With the proliferation of area code overlays and other numbering plan changes each month there is the potential to bill mobile calls as if they were lower-cost landline calls,” said Bob Richardson , COO Primal Solutions. “Our Voice Profitability Toolkit can display profitability data down to the call detail level, quickly identifying these rate plan problems. A number of our larger customers have lost tens of thousands of dollars each month due to mobile termination issues.” According to Richardson , “It is not uncommon for these and other problems to continue to present themselves every month. Such problems include:

– Call detail errors due to missing fields, unexpected data formats, or simply erroneous data resulting in call expenses that can’t be charged back to end customers.

– Duplicate records, records past contract cut off, records for unknown subscribers, which should not be the responsibility of the carrier.

– Minutes-of-Use (MOU) discrepancies due to charges received for unanswered calls or records that cannot be matched to create a complete call record or billable transaction, resulting in an increase of customer support calls, customer charge disputes and decline customer satisfaction leading to excessive customer churn.

– Unrecoverable third party charges for unanticipated or inappropriate transactions (e.g., 900 calls or 10-10 calls) that, for whatever reason, may not be billed to the end-customers, resulting in decreasing margins and customer satisfaction.

– Pricing plans that do not account for all the real costs of services used, producing shortfalls and “surprises”, and even bottom line losses for some offerings.”

The Voice Profitability solution includes a dynamic web-based dashboard that highlights key areas and associated performance trending of the service provider’s business on a billing cycle basis. Graphical dashboard indicator “widgets” annotate reconciliation percentages by business unit and call type, track profitability of services delivered, with statistics on those that are profitable, break even or lose money.

Other views identify the level of over and under billing that needs to be treated as accrued expenses for the carrier’s financial reporting each month. The solution includes powerful “digital microscopes” that allow analysts to drill down to the raw switch call detail record (CDR) level to uncover the root cause of the problem so a resolution can be applied, preventing recurrence and compounding problems month after month.

The Voice Profitability service also includes Primal Solutions’ ATLAS/24/7™ alerting framework, which enables the system to alert key business owners whenever an important business threshold is crossed.

“By offering our Voice Profitability solution as a software service, it is easy for carriers large and small to get started,” said Bob Richardson . “There is no equipment to purchase, or additional staff to hire. Simply upload your call record files and partner invoices, and our Voice Profitability service does the rest.” To schedule a live demo or for more information about the IP Correlytics platform and the Voice Profitability service, please visit our website at www.primal.com.
