While commercial deployments of 5G Open RAN networks by IS-Wireless are underway, the Polish company's R&D team participates in leading European research programmes on 6G technology. Experts contribute to the development of the new mobile communications standard and share their predictions regarding 6G. The very first private 5G mobile network for Industry 4.0 has been officially launched in Poland recently. The installment uses RAN (Radio Access Network) provided by IS-Wireless. The company's solutions are also being deployed in the UK and Asia. – Building innovative 5G networks is not the end game for us. We are looking towards the future of connectivity, meaning 6G – says Slawomir Pietrzyk, CEO and founder of IS-Wireless. In his opinion, being involved in the development of the new standard at the early stages provides an opportunity to influence the shape of the upcoming generations of mobile networks.

– The 5G solutions we now offer to customers around the world are the result of many years of research and development efforts of our team. By engaging in 6G research in the scope of international projects, we follow a similar path. We contribute to the foundation of the new standard, making sure we have a real impact on the way new technology works and ensuring we are able to provide market-ready 6G solutions later on – S?awomir Pietrzyk says.
Leading the global efforts

The R&D team at IS-Wireless currently works on the very foundations of 6G, by participating in European research programmes. As Adam Flizikowski, Head of R&D at IS-Wireless, explains, the company participates in two of the three active EU projects under the 'SNS JU – Stream C' programme funded by the European Commission: 6G-Bricks and 6G-Sandbox. As a part of these efforts, IS-Wireless works on creating an environment and tools for testing and developing 6G,
aiming to define the future technology and its performance. Both programmes rely on the company's previous achievements in the field of 5G. – We pursue 6G research because we want to be at the forefront of mobile networks development. When the new technology reaches the right level, we are going to offer new products to our customers. The world is still establishing and defining the equirements for 6G and it is a great opportunity to have a say in this aspect. These standards will probably be ready in 2029, but the first versions of the specifications should already be known in 2025-26 – Adam Flizikowski, Head of R&D at IS-Wireless points out.

Slawomir Pietrzyk, emphasizes that participation in cutting-edge research initiatives is possible thanks to the skills and experience of their research and development team. – A diverse, multicultural team of researchers and engineers, who have accumulated experience and knowledge in research facilities around the world, works on mobile networks of tomorrow at IS- Wireless. They allow us to be at the tip of the spear of global 6G research – he adds. Members of IS-Wireless’ R&D team discussed the progress of 6G research and their vision of how the next generation of networks will work at the recent 2023 EuCNC (European Conference on Networks and Communications) &6G Summit in Sweden.
