Operax Nominated for 2007 European ICT Grand Prize

Posted on February 19, 2007 Written by oss

Further to their announcement of 29 January 2007 that Operax was listed as one out of 70 nominees for the 2007 European ICT Prize, Euro-CASE has recently announced that Operax is also nominated as one of 20 companies for the ICT Grand Prize. For the companies selected, nomination for the Grand Prize is a significant endorsement of their technological and business potential.

The Prize is awarded to companies for new and imaginative products and services based on information and communications technologies. It covers the converging fields of computer, media and communications industries – considered to be among the driving forces in modern economies. This year, the judges faced the daunting task of evaluating 450 candidates from 30 countries – an all-time record for the 13 years of the Prize. The Winners and Grand Prize Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at CeBIT, in Hanover, Germany on March 16th.

“We are truly honoured to receive this great recognition for our products and technology”, says Chris Merrick, CMO Operax. ” In particular for our nominated product Operax Bandwidth Manager 5500. It validates our position as leader for QoS control and bandwidth management solutions in convergent all-IP networks.”

In converged broadband networks, providing guaranteed Quality of Service is a cornerstone capability, and essential for the successful commercial deployment and operation of new solutions. Operax Bandwidth Manager 5500 is a standards-based (ETSI TISPAN, ITU-T), carrier-grade QoS Control product for telecommunications network service providers that operate a multi-service Next-Generation Network. It provides real-time guaranteed Quality of Service (QoS) per session in access and aggregation networks and enables operators to deploy and mix services such as VoIP, IPTV, Video on Demand, and IMS-based services, with guaranteed service performance, on a shared infrastructure. Operax Bandwidth Manager 5500 supports multiple services and works across multiple vendor solutions and network technologies.
