NetCracker Underscores the Importance of Wireless OSS at 3GSM; Leading OSS Vendor Encourages Mobile Operators to Transform the Service Layer for a Competitive Edge

Posted on February 15, 2006 Written by oss

NetCracker Technology, the global OSS solution leader, today announced that its goal at 3GSM was to present the importance of service layer transformation in creating, delivering and assuring new content-rich services.

A number of major mobile operators are currently undertaking this transformation using NetCracker’s service inventory and service management solutions to create new services across diverse networks, provide on-demand services with out pre-committed resources, and deploying a comprehensive understanding of the service experience.

“The quality of service is only as good as the underlying OSS at the service layer,” said Rob Rich, Executive Vice President of Communications and Networking Research at Yankee Group. “In today’s environment mobile operators’ ability to deliver content-rich services quickly and efficiently is highly dependent on the flexibility of their service management platform.”

Communications Service Providers (CSPs) across the globe such as BiteGSM, MTS, Omnitel and others have turned to NetCracker to solve a number of challenges in their service and resource layers: building re-usable service components; providing on-demand services without pre-committed resources; and delivering service consistency and uniformity across multiple operators.

“In today’s ultra-competitive market, mobile operators must implement an operational environment where services can be created and deployed quickly, and assure it by managing the service experience. The key to that is a dynamic service layer with a flexible OSS underlying it. That is why it is critical to focus on wireless OSS at 3GSM,” said Sanjay Mewada, VP of Strategy for NetCracker Technology. “A better managed service layer can make a mobile operator much more competitive in a multimedia environment.”

NetCracker also recently announced a historic agreement with one of Europe’s leading operators to provide the platform for all of its convergent services across its 100+ properties, under a consolidation program that is currently underway.
