Infovista Joins Forces with Google Cloud to Change Wireless Network Planning

A Smarter Way to Build Wireless Networks

Wireless network planning is getting an upgrade, thanks to a new partnership between Infovista and Google Cloud. The two companies are integrating Google Cloud’s Propagation API with Infovista’s Planet network planning tool. This move is expected to make the process cheaper, easier, and more accessible—especially for smaller mobile operators, managed service providers, and private network builders across North America.

Google previously offered its own network planning tool, but that service is ending. Instead of leaving businesses scrambling for an alternative, Google Cloud and Infovista are stepping in with a solution that not only fills the gap but adds new capabilities along the way.

What’s Changing?

Wireless network design has long been a costly and complicated process. Engineers have had to spend big money on geodata, manually fine-tune propagation models, and rely on tools that required extensive technical knowledge. This partnership aims to change that by offering:

  • Pre-loaded geodata – Instead of buying and managing expensive geographic data, companies will get built-in access to high-quality maps, terrain models, and other crucial information.
  • Pre-calibrated propagation models – Instead of spending time fine-tuning models for specific environments, planners will have ready-to-use templates that improve accuracy and speed up deployment.
  • User-friendly tools – Instead of requiring specialized knowledge, the system will be easier for a broader range of professionals to use.

Rick Hamilton, CEO at Infovista, called the partnership a major shift. “By combining Google’s geodata expertise with our network planning tools, we’re making advanced RF planning accessible to more companies,” he said. The shift comes at an important time, as more businesses roll out CBRS-based networks, fixed wireless access solutions, and private 5G infrastructure.

What Google Brings to the Table

At the core of this partnership is Google Cloud’s Propagation API. This system calculates radio signal loss with a high degree of accuracy, thanks to:

  • Detailed geodata – Maps that include buildings, terrain, and even tree cover to improve signal modeling.
  • Specialized wireless models – Algorithms optimized for the North American landscape and frequency bands.
  • Support for multiple frequencies – Including CBRS, which has become a key part of private and fixed wireless expansion.

By integrating this technology with Infovista’s network planning software, the two companies hope to cut costs while improving performance.

When Can Businesses Get It?

The new solution will roll out in North America starting in the second quarter of 2025. Companies interested in learning more can visit www.infovista.com/googlepartnership.

What This Means for the Industry

This partnership could be a turning point for wireless network design. The shift to cloud-based geodata and pre-calibrated models makes high-quality planning tools more affordable and widely available. Smaller network operators, who may have struggled with high upfront costs in the past, could now get access to the same technology as larger players.

With the push for better connectivity growing—especially in rural and underserved areas—this collaboration may play a key role in shaping the next wave of wireless expansion.
