Driven by a significant rise in investment across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GGC) region and coupled with future projects, including Expo 2020 and the 2022 World Cup, the Middle East is set to become a hotbed of data center activity, fuelled by ever-increasing adoption of cloud services. Data center and server virtualization for cloud infrastructure is one of the core themes for the conference this year.
Now in its 10th year, DatacenterDynamics (DCD) Converged Middle East, the premier event for the data center, cloud, and IT industry, will take place in Dubai on 4th May. The conference will explore the predicted cloud market surge in the region and how this will impact the data center market, as well as examine issues around data protection, security, and sovereignty.
In support of its Smart Government initiative the UAE Federal Government Network (FEDnet) was introduced earlier this year allowing federal and local government entities to share infrastructure and services in the cloud.
Opening the conference, H. E. Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, Director General of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) in the UAE, will share his insight on the steps taken by the UAE to roll out Smart Government initiatives, including the implementation of the FEDnet by the TRA.
The conference’s international speaker line-up includes Cole Crawford, Founding Executive Director, Open Compute Project & Co-founder, OpenStack and Geert Mareels, Project Leader, eGovernment Coordination Unit (CORVE), Belgium Government, as well as esteemed speakers from Google, Amazon Web Services, Abu Dhabi Government, Ericsson, Intel, and many more.
