Today, Ericsson announced that it is working with Telefonica to help deploy the first cloud-based VoLTE service in Colombia. The break-in deal for Ericsson also sees the company becoming a sole supplier of cloud products and services in Telefonica’s network.

Telefónica Colombia, along with Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC), is deploying the country’s first commercial virtual network for voice over LTE services.

Ericsson is becoming the sole supplier and is bringing the Ericsson Cloud Manager, Ericsson Cloud Execution Environment and virtual network function IMS core to enable commercial voice over LTE. Implementation, integration and support services are also included to enable this virtual network.
