EmCali speeds-up its service operations with Open’s SmartFlex Platform

Posted on June 19, 2010 Written by oss

EmCali’s public utilities business operates in an integrated manner under Open Systems Corp SmartFlex Solution, a leader in the development and implementation of BOSS (Business and Operations Support Solutions) for the telecommunications and public utilities companies.

EmCali decided to implement SmartFlex in two stages, in order to work under a single and flexible platform to provide support to all business functionalities and processes, covering key aspects of income generation and operative support and allowing for a single product management platform.

During the implementation of Phase 1 of the project -Commercial Services- BSS functionalities were implemented in order to optimize post sale processes, including billing and settlement processes, in order to provide control of invoice generation and accounts receivable collection, financing, sanctions and reconnection processes.

Phase 2 of the project called for the integration of OSS functionalities, which included customer services, work orders generation, maintenance activities and management of inventories for servicing the utilities market (Electric Power, Sewage and Water Works), as well as other functionalities which were in operation as of March 30th.

We are presently concentrated in the closure of the project, the telecommunication services, in order to kick-off a completely integrated solution to the operation. The goal is to provide the tools needed to reduce response time to critical mission aspects of the business and to optimize the company’s physical and operational resources.

“By consolidating the company’s data bases under a single operating system platform, we will gain the agility and the functional scope needed to provide coverage to all company areas. By virtue of this solution, under which several processes will be integrated, we will have better control over the data and the information needed for decision making, and for the reduction of monitoring time and field jobs. This has been a successful process for a multi-services company such as EmCali” pointed out Jairo Trujillo, EmCali’s Technology Director.

EmCali has over 2.0 million subscribers to the different services provisioned, all of which have benefited from Emcali’s service optimization and customer care. Upon concluding this second phase of the project, by the end of March of 2010, the company received over 4.000 requests which included sales, domiciliary visits and work orders, all of which have been promptly taken care of under the SmartFlex Platform.

“This has been a real challenge for Open, due to the diversity of the products and services convergence requested by EmCali. We are presently providing, successfully, support to all processes, from the moment the customer requests the service on to the implementation and maintenance activities for the electric power, sewage and water works industry” commented Hernando Parrott Open’s Vice-President of New Business Development.
