Amdocs Ranks First in Global OSS Market According to OSS Observer Report

Posted on June 15, 2006 Written by oss

Amdocs (NYSE: DOX – News), a provider of software and services to enable integrated customer management and the intentional customer experience(TM), has announced that it was named the leading provider of global operations support systems (OSS) in a recent report by OSS Observer titled, Market Share: Global OSS Supplier Market Leadership in 19 Segments.

“Amdocs has established a leading position in billing systems with a combination of software and extensive services,” said Patrick Kelly, founder and senior analyst of OSS Observer. “Through acquisitions and new development, they have expanded to be a leader in customer care and are emerging as a service fulfillment leader as well. As CSPs push toward greater OSS/BSS convergence, Amdocs portfolio is the most comprehensive offering in the market.”

OSS Observer defines the OSS space to include both network-facing systems (OSS) and aspects of customer-facing business support systems (BSS), such as billing and customer relationship management (CRM). Amdocs has three times the market share of the second largest provider, according to the report, which is an annual ranking of 250 global software and equipment vendors.

The network-facing systems (OSS) and customer-facing BSS systems historically have been independent of one another. Connecting OSS and BSS is key as service providers transform their businesses in order to lower costs, launch new converged services and improve the customer experience.

“The forces of convergence, consolidation and competition mean the battle for the customer is intensely fierce and the main differentiator in that battle is the customer experience,” said Michael Matthews, chief marketing officer of Amdocs. “Linking BSS systems with OSS systems is critical to delivering a superior and intentional customer experience, as well as reducing the ‘order to activation’ time and accelerating the launch of new services. Only Amdocs offers the broad portfolio of integrated, modular BSS and OSS products, combined with comprehensive services and industry know-how. While other vendors are trying to play catch-up and are formulating their first generation of products, we continue to extend our ‘head start’ in the market with proven, mature solutions in fulfillment, assurance and billing that span BSS and OSS.”

The report evaluated a number of OSS and BSS solutions, including billing, customer care, service assurance, service fulfillment, network element management software, and component integration and ranked Amdocs as the global market share leader. In addition, Amdocs ranks number one in the two key areas — billing and customer care — which account for 26 percent and 15 percent of the marketplace, respectively. Within billing, the largest OSS category as defined by OSS Observer, Amdocs also leads in two critical sub- segments: rating and pricing; and revenue and fraud assurance. For the customer care category, Amdocs is number one in subscriber management. Overall, Amdocs is highly ranked in 10 of the 19 segments evaluated by OSS Observer.
