Azure and MBT deliver Interconnect Billing to Starhub

August 26, 2005, London - Azure Solutions, the revenue-assurance company, and Mahindra-British Telecom Limited (MBT), an IT solutions provider to the telecommunications industry, today announced that they have implemented an interconnect system for StarHub, Singapores info-communications provider. The system will deliver interconnect billing for StarHubs mobile services, improving flexibility of the settlement process, enhanced performance and a reduction in operational costs.

StarHub operates its own GSM/GPRS network and has recently launched its 3G network. It required an interconnect billing system carry out billing and settlements accurately for interconnect agreements with its partner operators. Under the terms of the agreement, MBT implemented Azures Interconnect system for StarHub.

Azure Interconnect incorporates rules-based rating capability and allows StarHub to analyse call data, bill more accurately and to verify interconnect traffic between itself and other network partners. The system collects inter-business event detail records (EDRs), which can be applied across existing voice, data and mobile products, and provides StarHub with greater flexibility when launching next-generation services.

With the launch of the Interconnect project at StarHub, MBT has once again demonstrated its strong Systems Integration capabilities. MBT with its strong telecom domain knowledge and deep understanding of Azure's Interconnect product has successfully implemented complex interconnect scenarios. MBT also helped StarHub to process all its backlog data thus ensuring a smooth migration from its legacy system.

John Cronin, president and CEO of Azure Solutions, said: This is a really significant win for Azure and MBT and is great recognition of our interconnect solutions. The proliferation of operators and services across Asia means it is essential to have an effective and scaleable interconnect system in place, otherwise operators could experience significant revenue loss.

Abhijit Lahiri, head of the BSS practice at MBT, said: This is a great endorsement of MBT and Azures telecom expertise, and we hope to capitalise on further opportunities in an ever-increasing and diverse Asian telecom market.

Mr James Woo, VP of information services at StarHub said: We needed an interconnect system that is user friendly, highly robust and scalable to meet the complexities of future products and services. The combination of MBTs telecoms expertise and Azures commitment and heritage in revenue assurance has clearly been the key ingredients in our selection of MBT and Azure for this critical task.
