Zain Completes Install of RateIntegration Advanced Rating Server

10:39 am   -   November 16th, 2007

RateIntegration, Inc., a leading provider of 3rd-generation Revenue Life Cycle Management (RLM) solutions for the telecom and Internet 2.0 market, has told OSS News Review that they have successfully implemented its Advanced Rating Server at Zain (formerly MTC), a $4.2 billion mobile telecommunications provider in the Middle East and Africa.

The solution, deployed by RateIntegration’s solution partner Tech Mahindra, enables Zain-Kuwait to rate, discount and bundle both pre and post paid voice, data and content as well as offer promotions that improve customer retention. The solution has helped Zain reduce its time-to-market for new services from several months to days or weeks while reducing on-going maintenance and enhancement costs for additional pricing and services being launched. This is Tech Mahindra’s second successful implementation of the Advanced Rating Server at Zain, following last year’s award-winning deployment at Zain, Jordan.

“RateIntegration’s Advanced Rating Server offered extreme simplicity of use while the domain expertise that Tech Mahindra brought to the project made the whole implementation smooth” said Mohamed Rafi, Zain Group CIO.

Zain has a reputation for pioneering new services and is reinforcing its leadership position in Kuwait by adopting customer driven marketing strategies. Growing competition has driven the need for increased flexibility to rapidly launch new products and services. Zain also wanted a convergent solution that would leverage their existing BSS investments rather than go through a long and expensive migration and implementation.

“I always felt that, given Zain’s global scale of operations, it was imperative that we looked at a modular approach to creating our OSS and BSS stacks. As a first step, ZAIN has decided to enhance its rating capability by implementing the Advanced Rating Solution. This fully flexible and rules based rating engine provides great flexibility to our marketing teams to come up with unique service and price offerings to the market in record time” said Saleh Al-Houti, Zain’s IT Director.

RateIntegration’s Advanced Rating Server helped Zain achieve their business goals through a non-disruptive, zero-system-outage implementation while leveraging their existing BSS infra-structure. Based on the results at Zain-Jordan, the solution is expected to save Zain-Kuwait hundreds of man-days per year of “enhancement and maintenance project time” a well as improve the product launch times for new pricing models, bundles and service by over 75%. Zain plans to use the solution to model and implement all future products and offerings.
