Xalted Launches NRTRDE Solution, xNODE, that Enables GSM Operators Eliminate Roaming Revenue Losses

10:03 am   -   June 25th, 2008

Solution assists operators maximize revenue and help them meet GSMA mandate of NRTRDE-compliance by October 2008

With its proven expertise in fraud management and convergent billing, Xalted leverages to launch xNODE, which is a highly reliable and flexible NRTRDE solution. To ensure that GSM operators are out front of the growing International Revenue Share Fraud sophistication, the GSM Association (GSMA) introduced NRTRDE (Near Real Time Roaming Data Exchange).

Operators currently rely on a High Usage Report (HUR) for possible roaming fraud alerts. The HUR framework necessitates a CDR detailing roaming service usage between the visited and home operator networks within a 36-hour window. However, in many instances, records arrive too late to prevent the fraud, resulting in revenue losses. The delay in the data interchange process provides an opportunity for fraudsters to take illegal advantage and cause significant revenue loss to operators. The new NRTRDE standard outmodes the current HUR system by dramatically reducing roaming subscriber record exchange time, making fraud detection and control quick and simple. As part of NRTRDE-compliance, the visited network must forward CDRs to the customer’s home operator within 4 hours of the call end time. This enables near-real-time detection of frauds committed by subscribers roaming on other networks.

According to Ajay Batheja, CEO, Xalted, “If the visited operator is unable to get this information to the home operator on time, the visited operator is held liable for any fraud associated with those calls, so there is a greater degree of accountability for all parties to ensure successful compliance.”

Xalted’s xNODE manages the entire roaming related data transfer and fraud detection. The format translation is carried out as per GSMA standards by using TD.35 (NRTRDE) format. The roaming data collected from the mediation or network elements gets enclosed and transmitted to the roaming partner operators. Similarly the data received from the partners is decoded and processed for fraud detection and further actions. xNODE validates the data received from partner operators, manages error correction and checks the SLAs defined for the data integrity and data transfer. xNODE further provides various mandatory and custom reports to roaming partner operators.

“Further strengthening the efficacy of Xalted’s NRTRDE solution, is the fact that our Fraud Management and Billing systems are proven, currently supporting leading Tier 1 & 2 telecom operators, collectively processing over 300 million CDR’s daily worldwide,” asserts Niladri Dutta, Head-Sales (Asia), Xalted.
