Xalted’s Interconnect Billing Solution Delivers Superior System Efficiency by Processing well over 100 million CDRs Daily

4:30 pm   -   July 23rd, 2008

A first of its kind, Xalted’s Interconnect Billing Solution, InterTrace, processed 1.021 billion CDRs in a 5-day time span without any human intervention. A leading Indian telecom operator’s live data was used to process invoices for various domestic and international operators. This InterTrace benchmarking catapults Xalted’s Interconnect billing system to the forefront of other Tier 1 off-the-shelf IUC billing systems.

The benchmarking was conducted at Xalted’s world-class test bed, which has simulation capabilities for a 10 million subscriber base. The tests were executed on two IBM Quad CPU pSeries 570 servers with 16GB RAM each with configurations for 5+ million subscribers and services for PSTN, GSM (SMS, Content & Voice), and CDMA with variable billing data. The CDRs processed for interconnect billing included test data from varied network elements like Fetex, Huawei MSC, Nortel MSC, Alcatel OCB, Siemens EWSD, Ericsson AXE, Lucent 5ESS, and Comverse SMSC. The converted CDR streams were served from Xalted’s Convergent Mediation platform, xMedDy, which provides world-class Mediation functionality for heterogeneous network elements and various downstream applications like Billing, Interconnect billing, Revenue Assurance, and Fraud Management systems.

InterTrace is already successfully in service at BSNL and MTNL in India, as well as at various other operators across Europe. InterTrace’s niche capability of processing around 4+ billion CDRs monthly at each installation, enables deployment by any Tier 1 operator. InterTrace can be scaled to handle an increased subscriber base through linear scaling of the hardware.

“This achievement has further spurred Xalted to process 150 million CDRs daily on 2 Intel pSeries 570 CPUs,” says Ajay Batheja, CEO, Xalted.

Xalted’s InterTrace application is a one-stop solution for all IUC billing and delivers unique features like recycling and ACID transaction. Combined with xAct, Xalted’s revenue accounting solution and xTrace, Xalted’s Revenue Reconciliation solution, InterTrace delivers operators with a comprehensive revenue accounting platform.
