TELUS Completes Deployment of Sigma Systems’ OSS Service Management Solution

7:21 am   -   May 23rd, 2007

TELUS has deployed Sigma Systems’ Service Management Platform (SMP) to support service provisioning and activation of wireless voice and data services to more than 5.1 million subscribers. TELUS, an $8.8 billion Canadian telecommunications carrier, chose Sigma’s SMP because of the company’s proven expertise deploying wireless operational support systems (OSS).

“We wanted a service management platform that streamlines our creation and launch of wireless data, voice, messaging and premium content services,” said Kevin Salvadori, executive vice-president, TELUS Business Transformation and CIO. “Sigma’s OSS solution provides an elegant framework for delivering the latest premium wireless content over 3G wireless data networks.”

Sigma’s Wireless Service Package provides TELUS with an open and configurable OSS service management solution that delivers emerging voice and data services over 2G, 2.5G and 3G wireless networks. The wireless solution encapsulates the service management domain expertise and best practices that Sigma has gained from working closely with some of the world’s largest and most innovative telecommunications companies.

“TELUS’ deployment demonstrates Sigma is working closely with its customers to bring innovation to the wireless industry through next generation services,” said Tim Spencer, president and COO, Sigma Systems. “TELUS is capitalizing on the benefits of the end-to-end automation inherent in our Service Management Platform. As a result, TELUS has expanded the service creation and configuration tools necessary to manage its deployed OSS solution, allowing TELUS to deliver additional value-added services to its rapidly expanding subscriber base.”

As part of this deployment, TELUS is integrating:

* Sigma’s SMP, which automates service provisioning and activation, service authorization and resource management for complex services on a multi-technology and multi-vendor service delivery network.
* Sigma Wireless Service Package that provisions all of TELUS’ voice and data services over TELUS’ wireless networks (PCS - CDMA and iDEN).
* The Sigma Service Topology Manager (STM), a comprehensive solution for modeling, assessing and managing the relationship between subscriber services and the underlying network to accurately provision all network-based services.
* The Sigma Service Creation Toolkit (SCT), a development toolkit used by TELUS to rapidly create, configure and launch new wireless voice, data and premium content services.
* The Sigma Service Profile Manager (SPM), a CSR order tracking and management web portal with the ability to manage the subscriber’s service profile, order status and history.
