Telrad Enables High Availability for Voice over WiMAX

8:07 pm   -   August 29th, 2007

Telrad Networks, a developer of carrier-grade telecommunications equipment, has recently announced the release of a dramatically improved hardware and software configuration for the Commatch 6004 SIP to v5.2 access gateway for voice over WiMAX networks. The newly released Version 3.2 includes full redundancy, enhancing reliability and eliminating the risk of disruption from a single point of failure.

“Our existing deployments have been tremendously successful,” said Nir Gazit , Commatch Product Line Manager. “So the obvious next step was to eliminate downtime and provide carrier-grade availability.”

For operators seeking to preserve the features of existing TDM switches while deploying voice over WiMAX networks, the field-proven Commatch 6004 provides an immediate solution without the need for a softswitch. The Commatch 6004 access gateway provides full voice services and provisioning to WiMAX VoIP customers via the existing legacy switch.

“Current WiMAX deployments have not yet reached the scale where you need a softswitch to provide voice services,” said Gazit. “Operators want a quick and inexpensive solution that can be implemented in a matter of hours. The Commatch provides that solution, at a carrier grade level with no changes to the operator’s network and at a tenth of the cost per user of a softswitch.”

Telrad Networks will be showcasing the Commatch 6004 at the WiMAX India 2007, taking place August 24 in New Delhi .
