Telcordia to Provide Hosted Solution for Disney Mobile’s New Wireless Service

11:04 pm   -   April 7th, 2006

Telcordia (www.telcordia.com), a global provider of telecommunications software and services, announced today that it has signed an agreement with WDIG Mobile, LLC (”Disney Mobile”) to provide the Telcordia Hosted MVNO Solution, including Telcordia® Converged Application Server and Telcordia® Converged Real-Time Charging software, to help enable Disney Mobile’s family-friendly usage controls.

“Disney Mobile is providing a high-quality, family-oriented service that gives parents more control of their family’s communications in ways that have not been seen before,” said George Grobar, senior vice president and general manager of Disney Mobile. “We’re working with Telcordia to offer customization options that will allow our customers to personalize their service to meet their lifestyle.”

The Telcordia MVNO Hosted Solution will support Disney Mobile’s Family Monitorâ„¢ feature that allows parents to set spending allowances, providing parents with the opportunity to determine the amount each child can spend on various wireless services, as well as Disney Mobile’s Call Control function, which can control the time of day that calls can be made, while allowing restricted calling to predetermined key contacts during those times.

“Our converged solution enables Disney Mobile to offer the enhanced functionality that their customers demand at the highest level of quality and reliability that their customers expect,” said Bruce Marrett, Co-General Manager, Hosted Solutions, Telcordia.

Telcordia holds a leadership position in the emerging mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) space, which is expected to exceed $10.7 billion by 2010, according to The Yankee Group.
