Telarix Introduces Interconnect Billing Solution

10:37 pm   -   April 27th, 2006

Telarix, Inc., a provider of Interconnect Business Optimization (IBO) and settlement solutions for content providers, IP service providers and global fixed and mobile operators, continued its proven track record of innovation with the introduction of its next generation billing solution, iXBill V5.2. As part of the company’s comprehensive portfolio of interconnect and settlement solutions, iXBill ensures the entire interconnect billing process is fully tracked and captured, providing service providers an unprecedented view of their revenue streams while identifying critical financial trends.

Legacy billing systems and costly manual processes which carriers have relied upon in the past can no longer address the new level of complexity in which today’s carriers now operate. These systems typically suffer from lack of functionality, are not integrated with other business systems and, most importantly, are expensive to maintain. As a result, the voice, data, IP usage and rate information that are generated by these systems are often not accurate–resulting in significant vendor invoice reconciliation issues and lost revenue.

iXBill offers a robust and highly flexible interconnect billing system that allows carriers to eliminate revenue leakage by supporting interconnect agreements with other carriers, regardless of the level of complexity and the type of network. Unlike many of the billing-only focused interconnect solutions available in the market today, iXBill provides embedded revenue assurance capabilities, leveraging its integration with other key carrier business functions including agreement management; route optimization; pricing; and audit and reconciliation. This level of sophistication ensures that all billable activities are accurately captured, rated and billed while allowing service providers to support a variety of agreement types and rating scenarios including the multi-party settlements and sophisticated revenue sharing partnerships common in today’s dynamic voice, data, and IP interconnect market.

The system also eliminates the labor intensive and error prone processes associated with calculating and generating interconnect settlements. iXBill’s automated cycle and statement workflow management processes provides effective revenue assurance controls including residual usage management, enabling old Event Detail Records (EDRs) to be automatically added to an open statement or added as an adjustment to the relevant closed statement.

iXBill provides comprehensive billing cycle management including automatic accrual generation to determine projected income or costs for the entire billing cycle as well as partner invoice generation. The automatic transfer of information to back-office financial management systems ensures carriers can efficiently complete payment processing and manage the accounting for any disputed amounts which might arise.

The system’s powerful, easy to use dashboard ensures users have access to the accurate, mission critical financial data required to effectively manage and report on their interconnect relationships. The systems’ advanced OLAP-style reporting capabilities at both the billing account and billing cycle levels provide users with a holistic view of the business as well as all the relevant data required to support daily billing reporting mandates. EDR gaps and insight into any rating and billing-related issues which might arise are available with a click of the mouse while real-time alerts enable carriers to react quickly to critical financial events such as when a customer’s account credit limit is reached.

“iXBill delivers the real-time decision intelligence required for carriers to have a complete view of their entire billing and settlement operations,” said Don Lynch, CEO of Telarix. “This powerful tool will help carriers eliminate operational costs while driving revenue —reducing the time and resources required to create and deliver bills as well as increasing the accuracy of each interconnect statement.”

iXBill is part of Telarix’s iXTools(TM), a powerful suite of software modules that enables carriers to reduce costs and increase profitability across their interconnect networks. By analyzing both revenue and cost information associated with telecom traffic in near real-time, carriers can optimize network routing and identify capacity opportunities while ensuring that every call is captured, rated and billed accurately. Three of the world’s five largest telecom providers depend on iXTools to optimize their interconnect business.

FCC sides with NFL Network in dispute with Comcast

The Federal Communications Commission has sided with the National Football League in a long-running programming dispute with Comcast Corp., ruling that Comcast should carry the league's NFL Network on its popular digital cable package.

The FCC ruling now goes before an administrative law judge, who could force Comcast to carry the NFL programming at a certain price.
