Subex Azure Delivers Telecom Fraud Management and Revenue Assurance to MTC Namibia

6:35 pm   -   October 17th, 2006

Subex Azure Ltd, the world’s largest vendor of revenue maximization solutions for telecom operators, has successfully deployed its fraud management and revenue assurance systems at MTC Namibia.

MTC Namibia is the leading mobile services provider in Namibia, with in excess of 500,000 subscribers. Portugal Telecom recently acquired a 34 per cent in the company, and MTC Namibia was looking to further expand its reach in the region. As MTC Namibia’s network grows, it wanted to ensure that it had greater visibility of traffic crossing its network and had the tools to minimize its exposure to revenue leakage and reduce fraud on its pre-paid services.

Following a competitive tendering process, the Subex Azure Fraud Management Solution (SAFMS) and the Subex Azure Revenue System (SARAS) were chosen to help MTC Namibia implement changes across its network. The decision to implement these solutions was taken at the end of last year and the entire project was deployed in phases.

SAFMS is an advanced fraud-management system, which enables operators to detect both known patterns and unusual fraud types in all environments – wireline (PSTN, ISP, VoIP), wireless (2G, 2.5G, 3G) across all services (postpaid, prepaid, VAS, MMS, m-commerce). SAFMS utilizes rules-based alarms and artificial intelligence driven pattern matching to identify unusual behaviour. It is highly flexible allowing operators to customiz the configuration to suit their network and business requirements.

SARAS is a complete revenue assurance (RA) solution, designed to tackle critical revenue-assurance challenges across the entire revenue chain. SARAS offers a set of pre-configured solution templates that address revenue assurance issues across areas such as service fulfillment, usage integrity, retail billing, interconnect/wholesale billing and content settlement.

Jose Ferreira, Managing Director, MTC Namibia said, “We selected Subex Azure’s fraud management and revenue assurance solutions as they will enable our business to maximize our revenues effectively. This gives us a solid foundation on which we continue our expansion plans and it also provides us with an invaluable edge in the market.”

Subash Menon, Founder Chairman, Managing Director & CEO, Subex Azure Ltd said, “We are very pleased to be working with MTC Namibia. This implementation will help enhance MTC Namibia’s market performance and ensure that both telecom fraud and revenue leakage are kept to a minimum. This deal is an indication of our commitment as well as proof of sound understanding to the region in the African telecoms market.”
