Sicap Selects RateIntegration PriceMaker Solution for Prepaid Wireless Billing, Assurance, and Loyalty Management

7:36 pm   -   December 11th, 2006

RateIntegration, the leading provider of Revenue Lifecycle Management Solutions, today announced that Sicap AG, a wholly owned subsidiary of Swisscom Mobile, has selected RateIntegration’s PriceMaker Enterprise Pricing Server as the core pricing server for its prepaid wireless, assurance, and loyalty platforms.

The PriceMaker software architecture offers extremely flexible real-time pricing and rating. These capabilities enable companies to rapidly deploy innovative 3G and other service bundles. Further, PriceMaker-enabled solutions have been designed to be IMS-ready so that operators can take advantage of the emerging 3GPP standards framework for monetizing IP services.

Sicap’s unique configuration-driven pricing and charging platform will enable fast service rollouts for operators, in addition to very low total cost of ownership. The service upgrade will also ensure operator charging and billing software is effectively ‘future-proofed’ and provides pre-determined expansion routes to next-generation platforms such as IMS.

Sicap has partnered with RateIntegration, provider of revenue lifecycle management solutions, to provide the new Price Broker Suite and complement Sicap’s overall strategy and vision. Crucially, the new platform will see a reduction in the overall time to market for Sicap products, including Pre-paid Billing, Revenue Manager and Loyalty Manager.

Kam Mehta, channel and business development manager for Sicap, commented, “The charging and billing environment in the mobile space is continually developing to meet consumer needs, and operators are under pressure to act fast to prepare themselves for the challenges that lie ahead. Both Sicap and RateIntegration are working to fulfill the needs of our customers, and prepare their technology for future mobile applications, such as IMS, and next generation networks.”

Juniper Research has forecast that the annual growth rate for expenditure on new convergent mobile prepaid/postpaid solutions will average 30% per annum to 2011. Expenditure is forecast to grow from $299m in 2006 to just over $1.1bn by 2011 as operators strive for competitive advantage and improved operational efficiency. The largest expenditure over the 2006 to 2011 period is forecast to be in Europe due to the complex legacy charging environments installed in most established operators.

Thomas Thekkethala, RateIntegration’s CEO, said, “We are excited about working with Sicap to upgrade their existing pre-paid, assurance, and loyalty platforms. With PriceMaker, Sicap’s Tier 1 carrier customers will be able to launch new services without the need for costly software upgrades or on-going technical projects.

Bailout with a price: Chapter 11 bankruptcy

Mention a corporate bailout in the nation's capital these days and chances are someone will offer a harsh condition to go along with it. Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

Lately, the term 'prepackaged bankruptcy' has been gaining currency in the halls of Congress as lawmakers struggle with pleas for help from the auto industry.

The idea, embraced by some Democrats and Republicans, would extend taxpayer help in exchange for a company undergoing an accelerated Chapter 11 reorganization. The arrangement could represent a model, or a deterrent, for any other strapped companies considering seeking government help.

Stocks heads to lower open ahead

Wall Street headed for a lower open Wednesday with investors worried about the economic fallout if Detroit's Big Three automakers are unable to persuade lawmakers to give them a $25 billion bailout.

The market will again be glued to testimony given during the session by top executives from General Motors Corp., Ford Motor Co. and Chrysler LLC. They are asking Congress for a massive infusion of cash to prevent millions of layoffs, stave off bankruptcy and stabilize the companies.

Investors are concerned at the repercussions should any of the three automakers collapse, an event that could ripple through an already battered economy. Congressional Democrats have proposed using part of the $700 billion financial bailout package to pump into the ailing auto industry, but Republicans oppose such an approach.

HP shares soar after solid 4Q outlook

Hewlett-Packard Co. offered a fourth-quarter outlook slightly above Wall Street's expectations Tuesday despite the sagging economy, going against the grain even as other technology bellwethers have slashed forecasts and posted weak results in recent weeks.

Its shares climbled more than 13 percent in morning trading.

The Palo Alto, Calif.-based company expects earnings of 84 cents per share and adjusted earnings of $1.03 per share for the three months ended in October. This is slightly better than the $1 per share, excluding items, that analysts polled by Thomson Reuters are expecting.

Stock futures fall ahead of automakers' testimony

Wall Street appeared ready to retreat again Tuesday, as stock futures sank amid nervousness about the fate of Detroit's Big Three auto makers.

On Tuesday, executives of General Motors Corp., Ford Motor Co. and Chrysler LLC and the head of the United Auto Workers union will testify at a Senate Banking Committee hearing. The automakers, seeking $25 billion in government aid, have the backing of Democratic congressional leaders, but the Bush administration and Republican lawmakers are against the proposed bailout.
