Polystar OSIX Implements Real-Time Media Quality Analysis at Sunrise

1:32 pm   -   March 18th, 2009

Polystar OSIX, a leading supplier of Service Assurance and Network Performance Monitoring solutions, has recently announced successful implementation of Real-Time Media Quality Analysis functionalities at Sunrise, second-largest telecommunications provider in Switzerland.

Polystar RTP monitoring solution, based on the MediaProbe platform, enables telecom operators to monitor the quality of individual calls and performance of delivered audio and video data. It facilitates data aggregation to determine overall quality of the network and implementation of adjustments to enhance subscribers’ quality of service.

With the Polystar Network & Service Assurance Solutions, enhanced by the MediaProbe, operators are now able to monitor the quality of media streams for Mobile Release 4, VoIP and IMS networks in real-time. Polystar unique solution automatically correlates the quality reports for each RTP stream to control signalling, providing KQIs from an individual end-customer perspective. The MediaProbe provides an extensive set of KQIs enabling Customer-Centric Service Assurance for both voice and video services.

Sunrise, telecommunications provider in Switzerland, will be the first to benefit from this innovative Real-Time Media Quality Analysis functionality. “This innovative solution will reinforce Sunrise strong position on the Swiss telecommunication market and sustain its standing as a pioneering provider of fixed network, mobile and Internet services,” said Detlef Ott, Business Region Director at Polystar.

“Polystar solution enables us to monitor key voice quality and bandwidth data at a very central point of the network. The very open cooperation between Polystar and Sunrise made it easy to discuss and implement customer-specific monitoring details, regarding call correlation of signalling and RTP streams, as well as customer required signalling values. It is a pleasure to work with the Polystar team, as their interactive and customer-centric approach facilitated the quick customisation and implementation of our requirements into the Polystar monitoring solution,” said Klaus-Peter Escher, Senior Engineer at Sunrise.

“With the Polystar MediaProbe for RTP in combination with the Service Assurance solution, we plan to secure the quality in our Unbundled Local Loop VoIP network in an integrated, cost-efficient way. Because we are pro-actively monitoring customer’s calls, the outcome shall be higher quality, increase in revenue and lower churn, as a result of early detection and fast root-cause analysis,” said Alex Spengler, who was actively involved in the MediaProbe platform implementation as a part of the CEM strategy.”
