Openet Real-Time Charging Part of New SDP Alliance Platform

7:38 pm   -   February 7th, 2007

Openet has recently announced that its real-time charging solution, FusionWorks Charging, is a key component of The SDP Alliances’ pre-integrated, convergent service delivery platform (SDP). The SDP Alliance brings together the most important elements of a SDP and offers them either as a unified whole or in a subset of category-defining products. Openet’s FusionWorks Charging provides real-time, convergent charging to all of the next-generation services provided in the SDP architecture.

“Openet’s solutions are designed to enable new revenue streams and extract increased value from diverse service provider networks,” commented Shane O’Flynn, vice president, managed services and support, Openet. “This capability is essential for operators as they adopt end-to-end SDPs to increase service revenue growth and retain customers. The SDP Alliance recognizes the need to include real-time, convergent charging to the SDP as a means to track, charge and bill the innovative services enabled by the other Alliance partners.”

FusionWorks Charging allows operators to exploit their investments in next-generation network technologies. The real-time charging solution delivers any service to any type of subscriber, enabling any kind of payment method to be collected or authorized before delivery actually takes place. By seamlessly integrating with intelligent network probes, FusionWorks Charging provides the business logic to make all important policy enforcement decisions and the technical framework to accommodate shortcomings in the scalability of traditional pre-paid mechanisms.

“All the members of the SDP Alliance – including Openet – are category leaders,” commented Denis Murphy, co-chair of The SDP Alliance Steering Committee. “Collectively they offer a really compelling, pre-integrated and product-based SDP solution.”

For a demonstration of the pre-integrated, convergent SDP, visit The SDP Alliance during the 3GSM World Congress, February 12 – 15, 2007, Booth #2J27, Hall 2.
