Network Critical Integrates cPacket Networks’ Complete Packet Inspection Technology

9:57 pm   -   June 20th, 2008

Network Critical and cPacket Networks announced that they have worked together to create a 10 Gigabit TAP featuring complete packet filtering. Network Critical’s Smart Network Access 10G Filtering TAP will utilize cPacket’s revolutionary “complete” packet inspection chip which allows customers access to a 10 Gigabit data stream while providing the ability to filter traffic and send it back out a 1 Gigabit monitoring port. This innovative product provides a way for customers to continue to utilize their 1 Gigabit analysis tools while still being able to upgrade to a 10 Gigabit data stream.

The Smart Network Access 10G Filtering TAP comes equipped with two 10 Gigabit Live Network Input Ports, two 10 Gigabit Monitoring Ports that allow for filtering and two 1 Gigabit Monitoring Ports that allow aggregation and filtering. As with the other components of the Smart Network Access System, this unit comes equipped with Network Critical’s Failsafe Technology, which assures no disruption of network traffic, even if power is lost to the unit.

Other features of the Smart Network Access 10G Filtering TAP include:

*** 100% accurate counters for all bytes and packets;

*** Complete packet inspection of header fields and payload patterns;

*** Real-time traffic visibility;

*** Microsecond accurate time-stamp;

*** Accurate bandwidth and packet per rate profile; and

*** Secure web-based reporting including current, statistical and cumulative data.

“We are excited to be working with cPacket Networks on this ground-breaking new product,” said Chris Bihary, Managing Director of the Americas for Network Critical. “Their complete packet inspection chip allows us to add filtering functionality to our product line, which is something our customers have been asking for. It also allows us to add a 10 Gigabit tool to our Smart Network Access System, which provides more flexibility and allows us to offer a solution for every customer’s need.”

“Network Critcal’s new 10G Filtering TAP is an ideal application for our complete packet inspection chip,” said Rony Kay, President and CEO of cPacket. “In addition, their market leadership and this new product will guarantee that the benefits of complete packet inspection will be quickly appreciated by a rapidly growing audience of network professionals.”
