MetraTech Tutorial to be Delivered at Billing & Management Systems 2008

2:56 pm   -   March 27th, 2008

During June 8-12, 2008 in Amsterdam, Netherlands, MetraTech will lead a tutorial at the prestigious Billing & Information Management Systems event. The tutorial will be held on the second day of the conference, from 14:00pm to 16:00pm.

MetraTech’s chief technology officer, Doug Zone, will lead the tutorial, which will contain three sessions, with the title: “An Approach to Linking Investment Decisions in BSS to Business Strategy: making a compelling and defensible business case.”

The following lists the tutorial’s agenda:

1. What is the link between billing and business? Misconceptions at the executive level (CIO, CFO, COO):

*** an integrated view: service creation and service execution; and
*** the unified business case: OSS / BSS and Network

2. Panel Discussion: How to deal with Legacy Investment when making a business case:

*** how new technology has impacted the risk profile of legacy system replacements (SOA, Next Generation Systems, non-Switched Networks);
*** how to manage external stakeholders impacted by change; and
*** the cost of doing nothing: lessons from Product Lifecycle management

3. Calculating ROI from the business case:

*** estimating realistic lifetime costs: addressing inevitable change and estimating the unknowable (the mistake of assuming static requirements);
*** the value of strategic “Revenue Enablement” in estimating NPV of Revenues;
*** the value of service creation, lessons from investments in the assembly line; and
*** lessons from implementing SOA

In addition to Mr. Zone, there will be presenters from ACN, a leading global provider of media services, and Microsoft.

Mr. Zone commented, “With the increased need for system re-investment in the current budgetary environment, a rigorous look at building defensible ROI is absolutely critical. Those who attend will leave armed with knowledge and insights that will empower them to more effectively meet this key objective.”
