Irish Mobile Operator Meteor Chooses Intec Convergent Billing and Intec Customer Management

11:28 am   -   September 26th, 2007

Intec, a global provider of business and operations support systems (BSS/OSS), has told OSS News Review about a multi-million dollar deal with Ireland-based Meteor Mobile Communications for Intec Convergent Billing and Intec Customer Management.

The combination of these two products will allow Meteor to create a fully integrated view of customer information for both pre-paid and post-paid customers. The Irish market, traditionally dominated by pre-paid customers, is turning towards more post-paid agreements as services and tariffs become more innovative to support increasingly sophisticated customer demands and a fiercely competitive landscape. Meteor, which has been increasingly successful in building its post-paid business, wanted to update its legacy platform to deal with growing customer volumes and both pre-paid and post-paid customers.

“Intec Convergent Billing and Intec Customer Management gave us exactly what we needed for the next phase of our growth,” said Meteor’s IT Director Tony Stewart-Lord. “Running separate systems for different types of customers isn’t efficient or customer friendly, and we pride ourselves on being both of those things. Having a truly convergent system, with fully integrated customer management, allows us to have a much more complete and consistent view of customer relationships and billing information.”

Meteor is an innovative provider of high quality GSM services in Ireland. The company, whose headquarters is in Dublin, operates in the Republic of Ireland and is a wholly owned subsidiary of eircom Group PLC. Meteor has enjoyed phenomenal growth in recent years and recorded over 875,000 customers and over 18% market share in June 2007.

Gary Burch, Intec’s VP of EMEA, said “Meteor is a great example of the kind of go-ahead mobile operator that is now turning to Intec for convergent billing and customer management. Our fully integrated solution means that they can improve the efficiency of their billing processes, deliver an improved customer experience, and have the kind of open-ended scalability and performance that only a tier 1 billing solution can bring.”

Intec Convergent Billing and Intec Customer Management are Intec’s market leading billing and customer management solutions, relied upon by many of the largest and most innovative telecommunications service providers worldwide. Their efficient, integrated, single-database architecture allows service providers to lower their operating cost by supporting all rating, balance management, charging and billing tasks on a single platform, serving pre-paid, post-paid and multi-pay customers for all classes of product.
