Intec wins contract with Russia’s VimpelCom for Intec Trading and Routing system

2:30 am   -   March 1st, 2006

Intec, a leading supplier of BSS/OSS solutions to the global telecoms industry, will deliver its Intec Trading and Routing Solution to VimpelCom.  The solution enables optimised capacity trading and traffic routing in the highly competitive wholesale voice business. The deal further extends Intec’s relationship with VimpelCom, following announcements in 2005 of a multi-million dollar agreement for core components of Intec’s BSS/OSS technology (Intec Dynamic Charging Platform and Intec Mediation.) VimpelCom is also a long-term user of Intec’s market leading settlement platform, Intec InterconnecT.

VimpelCom is a major provider of telecommunications services in the rapidly expanding Russia, Kazakhastan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan markets, together with newly acquired operations in Ukraine.  VimpelCom has in excess of 40 million subscribers across Russia, and recent Russian Federation legislation means Vimpelcom operates in an increasingly transparent and competitive environment. The Intec Trading and Routing solution will help VimpelCom manage complex trading agreements and traffic across a growing set of partner networks.

“We see the deployment of InterconnecT OR as a natural extension to the successful roll out of InterconnecT,” said VimpelCom’s Evgeny Saburov. “The solution has the potential to increase the number of carriers we connect to and the number of destinations we can analyse for routing. Ultimately, this should bring improved efficiency and reduced costs.”

Kevin Adams, CEO of Intec, added: “This latest win in Russia, with such a prestigious operator, is a strong endorsement of our Trading and Routing technology. It also highlights the benefit of our recent Moscow office opening, which will enhance our ability to deliver local service and support to our CIS customers.”

The Intec Trading and Routing solution will give VimpelCom a single system for controlling all data associated with the routing of international traffic. Already chosen by tier one operators including TeliaSonera, Eircom, Wind and Telecom Egypt, unparalleled tariff, routing and volume analysis, quality measurements and alerting capabilities have made the Intec Trading and Routing solution a market leader. Users of the solution can benefit from significantly lower wholesale costs, key decision support, aggressive pricing, more efficient routing and greater speed to market.
