Intec Increases Presence in Venezuelan Market with Purchase of Interconnect by GSM Operator Digitel

3:38 pm   -   May 9th, 2008

Intec announced it signed a contract with Corporación Digitel, the leading GSM operator in Venezuela, for their Interconnect solution suite. Currently being installed, the solution includes interconnect billing, automated reconciliation, and duplicate record detection.

“Intec is pleased to add Digitel to its existing customer base in Venezuela, where now two of the three leading mobile operators use Intec Interconnect for their inter-carrier billing needs,” said Ian Watterson, Intec’s CALA Vice President. “With a short implementation time and low total cost of ownership, Digitel will see a fast return on investment and will soon benefit from owning a world-class interconnect system fitting for a leading, innovative operator. The ease of use and automation of the solution will also help streamline Digitel’s business, increasing productivity, and improving efficiency.”

Digitel deployed the first GSM network in Venezuela and is the leading GSM provider in the country, offering innovative services such as mobile TV, mobile office, and mobile mail, and was the first in the country to offer billing by the second. Digitel is rapidly expanding in Venezuela and since the beginning of 2008 has installed 18 new antennas throughout the country in an effort to provide the best coverage for its more than five million subscribers.

“Digitel is committed to providing the best service possible for our clients and has been constantly expanding since its inception in 2006,” said Mariana García, Director of Interconnection and Roaming for Digitel. “By offering a shorter time to market for new, competitive services and comprehensive billing support for new revenue streams, Intec Interconnect will support Digitel’s goal to provide the best quality and service in the country. Intec Interconnect also has the scalability that Digitel, one of the fastest growing operators in Venezuela, needs to support its rapid expansion in the Venezuelan market.”
