InfoVista Enhances Metro Ethernet Services Through Pre-integration Certification with Alcatel
InfoVista (NASDAQ: IVTA; Euronext IFV - FR0004031649), a leading service-centric performance management software company, has announced that its solutions are certified as pre-integrated with Alcatel’s 5620 Service Aware Manager (SAM) 4.0, the latest version of its industry-leading management application. Through InfoVista’s L2/L3 VPN Services Module for Alcatel 5620 SAM 4.0, service providers can leverage carrier-grade Metro Ethernet services and meet customer expectations for “always on,†high bandwidth service levels.
The market for Metro Ethernet is exploding in part due to a robust set of integrated management solutions from companies like InfoVista and Alcatel. Heavy Reading estimates the market will grow at a rate of 45 percent to reach $3 billion in 2009, and more than half of respondents in a related survey believe they can achieve a strong competitive advantage by offering high service availability and end-to-end service-level agreements (SLAs). InfoVista’s L2/L3 VPN Services Module answers these imperatives by giving service providers the tools to leverage Metro Ethernet transport technology and deliver on the promise of “always on,†managing at the service level rather than the network to win and retain customers.
“Alcatel is a world leader in delivering Carrier Ethernet solutions to market,†said Andrew McDonald, vice president network and service management for Alcatel. “To meet the diverse needs of our customer base, we work with best-of-breed software vendors as part of our OSS Partner programs, ensuring that our Carrier Ethernet solutions are pre-integrated to simplify and speed introduction into our customers’ networks. Pre-certified integration between the InfoVista performance management software and the Alcatel 5620 SAM enables service providers to more rapidly deploy the service monitoring systems required to support new Carrier Ethernet infrastructure and services.â€
Leveraging the element, network and service management of the Alcatel 5620 SAM platform, InfoVista provides advanced end-to-end VPLS and VPRN performance management measurements such as packet loss, jitter and delay, for each customer, ensuring the end-user experience corresponds to the agreed SLAs.
InfoVista’s L2/L3 VPN Services Module also enables flow-through provisioning, the automated creation of performance reports for customers and operations personnel as a new user first signs on and throughout the continuous moves, adds and changes that occur in a dynamic VPN environment. Through this, service providers see a dramatic reduction of manual steps, complexity and risk of errors, enabling quicker time to market.
“InfoVista is playing a critical role in turning the potential of Metro Ethernet into a boon for service providers and a practical and cost-effective transport technology for enterprises,†said Jean-Luc Valente, senior vice president, marketing and strategic alliances with InfoVista. “There will soon be a day where Metro Ethernet overtakes any other metro technology thanks to robust, full-fledged and well integrated management solutions from market leaders like Alcatel and InfoVista. Together, we give service providers a proactive approach to manage carrier-grade Metro Ethernet networks with confidence, and provide a way to measure and report on performance end-to-end.â€
