Informa Telecoms and Media Adds New Research Office in Brazil

Informa Telecoms & Media, a leading global research firm, has its reach by opening a new research office in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The Latin American telecoms market is witnessing an unprecedented level of growth and according to Informa’s latest figures passed the milestone of half a billion mobile subscriptions in 2009, ending the year with 509 million subscriptions, up 12% from end-08.

“Latin America is experiencing phenomenal growth, particularly in the mobile communications sector, and now accounts for 11% of the world’s total mobile subscriptions. Given the nature of the market, we feel that now is an ideal time to boost our presence in the region,” says Mike Roberts, Principal Analyst and Head of Americas at Informa Telecoms & Media.  “We’re excited about opening a new office to build our analysis, data and customer service capabilities in one of the world’s largest and most dynamic telecoms markets.”

Mario Meirelles joins Informa Telecoms & Media as a Senior Analyst focused on the Latin American market and is based in the Sao Paulo office. He has extensive experience in the telecoms sector having worked with two of the region’s major operators - TIM Brazil and Oi/Telemar, the largest carrier in Brazil.

Júlio Püschel, who joins Informa Telecoms & Media as a Senior Analyst and Head of Mobile Operator Strategy, is also based in the Sao Paulo office. He has more than 8 years’ experience covering the ICT market in different roles and verticals. Julio’s areas of expertise are mobile broadband, fixed-mobile convergence, telecom regulations and Latin America telecom strategies. Júlio was previously at Yankee Group, where he was responsible for Latin America’s research and consulting. 
 
The opening of the new Latin America office means that Informa now has teams of full-time analysts in every continent – Europe, North America, Latin America, the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific..
