iBasis Goes Live with RateIntegration Advanced Rating Server for Real-time Rating and Margin Reporting

6:40 pm   -   April 9th, 2008

RateIntegration, the leading provider of advanced rating solutions for service providers, has recently told OSS News Review about the selection and successful implementation of its Advanced Rating Server (ARS 3.0) software by iBasis (NASDAQ: IBAS), a leading international long distance carrier and a provider of retail prepaid calling services and enhanced services for mobile operators.

iBasis selected RateIntegration to provide a comprehensive real-time rating and margin analysis solution that leverages iBasis’ existing business support systems. iBasis will use RateIntegration’s ARS 3.0 solution to support customer and partner billing and settlement processes for over 4,000 carrier-customers and vendors throughout the world. In addition, ARS 3.0’s high-performance processing will enable flexible real-time margin reporting and revenue analysis for iBasis’ business analysts.

“We are delighted that iBasis has selected ARS 3.0 to support its wholesale voice customer base,” stated Thomas Thekkethala, CEO of RateIntegration. “iBasis recognizes the strategic importance of acquiring a state-of-the-art solution for real-time billing and margin analysis to meet their very demanding, high-volume processing challenges. ”

“iBasis chose RateIntegration’s ARS 3.0 after a careful review of the other leading solutions in the marketplace,” stated Paul Floyd, Sr. Vice President of Global Products, Network and Systems at iBasis, “The RateIntegration solution stood out as the right solution because of its powerful combination of scaleable processing and proven robustness as a stand-alone system. Further, ARS 3.0’s unique design enabled us to implement quickly, leverage our existing systems and processes, and put in place a system with very low total cost of ownership going forward.”

ARS 3.0 introduces a radically new BSS architecture into the industry that enables extremely flexible pricing and cost computations and that supports the delivery of rated information in real-time for back-end billing, margin reporting, and revenue analysis. The resulting control and insight into the complex dynamics of iBasis’ wholesale business is a powerful competitive advantage for the company.

By deploying RateIntegration’s Advanced Rating Server, iBasis has ensured a robust, scaleable process for real-time rating and reporting on its high volume CDR flow. Having completed a merger with KPN Wholesale in late 2007, iBasis is established as one of the three largest international wholesale voice carriers in the world, carrying approximately 24 billion minutes in 2007. Growth rates in CDRs have exceeded 25% per year and are anticipated to grow at or beyond this pace into the future.
