i-conX Enlists Telecom Expert for Emerging Markets

8:30 am   -   October 30th, 2008

Peter Deane, telecoms industry expert, was appointed by Dublin-based interconnect specialist, i-conX Solutions, to step-up the company’s continuing focus on emerging markets.

As former managing director for i-conX’s closest competitor, Intec, Peter was responsible for the company’s presence across Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). Tapping into his existing contacts, insider knowledge and cultural understanding, i-conX is utilizing the consultant’s 12 years sector experience to accelerate headway already made across the EMEA regions where many operators are installing interconnect agreements for the first time. This will complement the company’s efforts in Western Europe where further opportunities are arising as carriers evaluate their existing business models and the incumbent supplier’s capacity to fulfill current interconnect requirements.

“During my many years of working within emerging markets I have gained great insight into the specific business needs of telcos operating in these areas,” says Peter Deane. “Working with i-conX has enabled me to channel my expertise as, unlike other service providers, i-conX is entirely dedicated to interconnect issues. Coupled with my knowledge of the EMEA regions, the partnership is proving very successful and I am encouraged by the traction achieved to-date.”

Prior to his role with Intec, Peter was Managing Director of internet service provider Horizon Open Systems, where he started his career within telecoms. Following a period at Intec, he then decided to maximize his acquired expertise by setting up as a consultant and was first called upon by i-conX to support its success in less mature markets in March 2008.

Since his initial appointment, the company has already gained good ground in these areas with recent contract wins in Palestine and Sudan testament to its ongoing progress. Fundamental to i-conX’s deployment in sensitive and sometimes political environments is the company’s unique stance on its offering of ‘on the ground’ support. Expert teams of highly trained installation specialists are willing to work on location, using locally sourced software, and deliver a post-implementation support service that includes comprehensive on-site training.

“As a specialist supplier operating within emerging markets we are used to overcoming the special challenges commonly found in these regions. Through discussion with the customer we can tailor our products and services to best meet the requirements of the project and the environment in which it is being hosted,” says i-conX Vice President Sales and Marketing, Gavin Stewart.

“We welcome Peter’s perspective on meeting our specific business objectives and are confident in his ability to support i-conX’s developing status as the global interconnect specialist for emerging markets. We have a number of projects in the pipeline and look forward to working closer with Peter to cement further contracts in the near future.”
