Huawei Launches Next-Generation Convergent Billing Solution at 3GSM World Congress

8:08 am   -   February 13th, 2007

Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd (”Huawei”), a leader in providing next generation network telecommunication solutions for operators around the world, has launched its Convergent Billing Solution (CBS) at 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona. Huawei’s CBS will help operators build a horizontal and open billing network architecture with the capability to support various networks and services, serving all end users regardless of whether they are prepaid or postpaid.

Using its experience in IN and BSS fields, Huawei developed its next-generation independent “Convergent Rating and Billing Engine”, which combines the high reliability and performance of IN with the rating and billing flexibility of BSS. With this independent engine, Huawei can provide its customers with end-to-end CBS delivery capability, including products enabling service control and collection, rating and billing, as well as customer care.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Stephen Laufer from IBM said, “Huawei’s solution will provide many benefits from the perspective of software and hardware platform support, speedy deployment and customized implementation”.

The Practice Leader Mr. Jean Charles of OVUM consulting company focused on the trends in the industry, explaining that, “Convergent billing platforms that can swiftly respond to market requirements have become a powerful way for the operators to develop follow-up services and gain a competitive advantage. CBS will help operators improve the competitiveness of their products, increase the average revenue per user (ARPU), reduce the operation cost, and enhance customer loyalty.”

At 3GSM, Huawei is demonstrating the full package of CBS value-added service solutions, incorporating convergent billing, mobile video, mobile digital music, enterprise applications, message applications, and value chain cooperation.

“By working closely with our customers to discover their key requirements and pain points, we are able to build products individually tailored to global mobile network operators’ network needs and integrate the product with third-party systems to build an holistic solution,” said Dr. Che Haiping, VP of Huawei. “The formal launch of CBS is further illustration of Huawei’s end-to-end service oriented architecture and industry-leading strength.”
