Highdeal Signs Agreement with Mobile Satellite Ventures to Support Its Next Generation Hybrid Communications Network
Highdeal, the world’s leading provider of pricing & rating solutions, has signed an agreement with Mobile Satellite Ventures (MSV), a leading supplier of mobile satellite communications services throughout the US and Canada. MSV has chosen the Highdeal Transactive® advanced billing solution for its next-generation network. This SOA-compliant solution will support industry’s most advanced BSS/OSS infrastructure.
The solution is part of an innovative infrastructure designed to meet the needs of MSV’s unique wholesale-based business model. Highdeal Transactive will serve as the pricing, rating and billing platform supporting MSV’s all IP 4G wireless satellite-terrestrial communications network.
MSV is a leading supplier of mobile satellite communications services delivering mobile wireless voice and data services primarily for public safety, security, fleet management and asset tracking throughout the U.S. and Canada. In addition, MSV holds the first FCC license to provide hybrid satellite-terrestrial services. The company plans to launch two satellites in 2009 and 2010,which are expected to be among the largest and most powerful commercial satellites ever built, and will provide seamless and ubiquitous coverage of the United States and Canada.
While providing their services on a wholesale basis, MSV expects to also develop a new market of virtual mobile service resellers who are anticipated to look to MSV to provide not only the services, but operational management, such as customer support and billing.
MSV chose Highdeal after a comprehensive RFP process in which the leading vendors in the billing industry were evaluated. Highdeal Transactive was selected not only for service pricing flexibility and feature-rich capabilities, but most importantly because of Transactive’s ability to support logical integration to other solutions with a systems approach that excels in a componentized architecture.
MSV’s objective is to build a partner-ready “back office” using a unified architecture that focuses holistically on traditional categories of OSS/BSS, Service Delivery Platform and IMS core networks. The result is an Integrated Service Delivery Framework – a collection of Best of Breed components that includes Transactive for pricing, packaging, bundling and billing.
“Mobile Satellite Ventures is implementing the most forward-thinking OSS/BSS infrastructure in the industry,” said Camilla Dahlen, President, Highdeal Inc. “By leveraging technology standards like SOA and a component-based architecture, they will enable their customers to create the world’s most innovative offerings including mash-ups, rich-media services and mobile SaaS applications.
“Their focus on SOA and service enablement will raise the standards for service providers globally while their reseller customers will benefit from industry-leading capabilities and monetization flexibility. We are pleased to be selected after such a thorough evaluation process and look forward to helping MSV reach its corporate objectives.”
“As MSV designs its next-generation 4G-enabled communications network, we are selecting partners with capabilities and solutions that exceed industry standards and meet our demanding SOA and interoperability requirements,” said David Claassen, vice president, Core Engineering for MSV. “Highdeal Transactive provides us a standard-setting billing solution that will fulfill the needs of MSV’s hybrid satellite-terrestrial system.”
