11:23 pm   -   January 5th, 2006

GN Netcom, the leading global innovator of wireless office headsets, today announces its new flagship GN 9300 series. Combining stylish design with state-of-the art technology, the GN 9300 series has been developed to meet the growing demand for wireless office headsets compatible with traditional telephony and IP telephony (Internet- based calling).    A future-proof solution, this innovative series of high- performance headsets includes the GN 9350, the industry’s first wireless office headset to offer full convergence between traditional and IP telephony, the GN 9330 for traditional telephony and the GN 9330 USB for IP telephony. All three headsets operate on the 1.9 GHz frequency, making them Wi-Fi friendly. The GN 9300 series is the latest expansion to GN Netcom’s award- winning portfolio of wireless office headsets.

“The growing use of the mobile phone and Bluetooth headsets in people’s personal lives is boosting the desire for wireless working in professional lives. People are now looking for the same level of convenience at work, as they have outside. They want to multitask, check e-mails while on a conference call or have the freedom to move around the office. Wireless headsets are fast becoming an essential part of the professional lifestyle, and with sleek designs such as the GN 9300 series they are increasingly being used to express yourself,” said Hans Henrik Lund, President and CEO of GN Netcom.

Driven by consumer demand for wireless working, improved efficiency and enhanced personal comfort, the wireless office headset market is growing 50% in units annually. At the same time the telephony market is going through one of its biggest transitions since the change from analogue to digital telephony, with the market for IP telephony expected to show annual growth rates of 23% (Frost & Sullivan 2005). Whether companies are using traditional telephony or looking to install IP telephony, the GN 9300 series will help them realize a much quicker return on their investment, as well as enabling them to enjoy all the benefits that wireless office headsets provide.

GN 9350 - Boasting three industry firsts

Providing useful innovation, packed in a sleek design, and easy to use wireless functionality, the GN 9350 is an indispensable business tool for the professional person. The GN 9350 is the industry’s first headset to offer users full convergence between traditional office telephony and computer-based IP telephony (softphones), automatically switching between phones when a call is received so the user never has to think about it.

The GN 9350 is also the industry’s first wireless office headset to offer true wideband audio performance (6.8 kHz wideband sound in IP mode) and the first to incorporate Digital Signal Processing technology, ensuring that users experience superior sound clarity. Digital Signal Processing filters out incoming background noise, boosts incoming audio levels and maintains a safe consistent volume throughout the call. In addition, the GN 9350’s noise- canceling microphone means that users can be assured that their voice is transmitted clearly even in noisy environments.

The GN 9350 is easy to set up and its LCD display controls make it intuitive to use. With digital security encryption, interchangeable batteries for around-the-clock talk time and a range of up to 350 feet users can feel free and secure to roam about their office as they please so they never have to worry about missing a call again.

Weighing less than 1 oz. the GN 9350 is one of the smallest and lightest headsets in its class. Its ergonomic design means that the user will hardly notice wearing it. The GN 9350 comes in a black and silver color and offers three different wearing styles to suit individual user tastes.

GN 9330 & GN 9330 USB - Supporting Traditional and IP Telephony

The GN 9330 has been designed to work with traditional office phones bringing hands-free convenience and superior audio quality to conventional office telephony. Its IP counterpart the GN 9330 USB is for use with IP telephony such as IP softphones. The GN 9330 USB is the industry’s first wireless headset to offer 6.8 kHz wideband USB audio quality.

Both headsets offer affordable innovative headset technology with simple ‘plug and play’ installation as well as all the benefits of hands-free convenience, including increased efficiency, comfort and mobility. The GN 9330 and GN 9330 USB come in the same stylish design as the GN 9350, offer two different wearing styles to suit all tastes and connect effortlessly and quickly to a user’s telephone or computer. In addition, their simplistic, intuitive headset controls make them easy to operate. They both offer noise- canceling microphone technology, digital security encryption and can work up to a range of 150 feet.

Bailout with a price: Chapter 11 bankruptcy

Mention a corporate bailout in the nation's capital these days and chances are someone will offer a harsh condition to go along with it. Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

Lately, the term 'prepackaged bankruptcy' has been gaining currency in the halls of Congress as lawmakers struggle with pleas for help from the auto industry.

The idea, embraced by some Democrats and Republicans, would extend taxpayer help in exchange for a company undergoing an accelerated Chapter 11 reorganization. The arrangement could represent a model, or a deterrent, for any other strapped companies considering seeking government help.

Stocks heads to lower open ahead

Wall Street headed for a lower open Wednesday with investors worried about the economic fallout if Detroit's Big Three automakers are unable to persuade lawmakers to give them a $25 billion bailout.

The market will again be glued to testimony given during the session by top executives from General Motors Corp., Ford Motor Co. and Chrysler LLC. They are asking Congress for a massive infusion of cash to prevent millions of layoffs, stave off bankruptcy and stabilize the companies.

Investors are concerned at the repercussions should any of the three automakers collapse, an event that could ripple through an already battered economy. Congressional Democrats have proposed using part of the $700 billion financial bailout package to pump into the ailing auto industry, but Republicans oppose such an approach.

HP shares soar after solid 4Q outlook

Hewlett-Packard Co. offered a fourth-quarter outlook slightly above Wall Street's expectations Tuesday despite the sagging economy, going against the grain even as other technology bellwethers have slashed forecasts and posted weak results in recent weeks.

Its shares climbled more than 13 percent in morning trading.

The Palo Alto, Calif.-based company expects earnings of 84 cents per share and adjusted earnings of $1.03 per share for the three months ended in October. This is slightly better than the $1 per share, excluding items, that analysts polled by Thomson Reuters are expecting.

Stock futures fall ahead of automakers' testimony

Wall Street appeared ready to retreat again Tuesday, as stock futures sank amid nervousness about the fate of Detroit's Big Three auto makers.

On Tuesday, executives of General Motors Corp., Ford Motor Co. and Chrysler LLC and the head of the United Auto Workers union will testify at a Senate Banking Committee hearing. The automakers, seeking $25 billion in government aid, have the backing of Democratic congressional leaders, but the Bush administration and Republican lawmakers are against the proposed bailout.
