eServGlobal Initiates Number Portability for Nextel Mexico

12:35 pm   -   November 18th, 2008

eServGlobal Limited announced that their NumberMax Number Portability solution has been successfully launched at Nextel Mexico.

The firm’s NumberMax solution has been installed to meet Nextel’s regulatory and commercial requirements to provide Number Portability in Mexico for the recent regulatory deadline implemented in 2008. The solution supports fixed and mobile calls as well as messaging over both legacy and Next Generation networks.

Number Portability allows fixed and mobile users to switch service providers while avoiding the cost and inconvenience of changing telephone numbers. It is becoming a regulatory requirement throughout the region, and is already operating in Puerto Rico, Guyana and the French West Indies, according to Business News America. The Dominican Republic, Peru and Brazil are currently planning implementation, and Colombia and Chile are examining Number Portability regulations and implementation. Number Portability can drive the demand for other services as service providers look for ways to retain customers, and this, in conjunction with our other products in the payment, retention and messaging sectors, will drive our growth in 2009 and beyond.

Raúl Ramírez, Nextel Mexico’s Chief Technology Officer, said, “When we were analyzing the short list of providers for our MNP solution, it was very clear that eServGlobal had the best solution and their commitment to deliver on our timeline would be the key factors in forming a partnership. We are excited about the NumberMax solution and in continuing to enhance the productivity of our high-value customers.”

Laurent Lafarge, Chief Executive Officer of eServGlobal, said, “We are delighted to have provided our NumberMax solution to Nextel Mexico, a successful delivery in a very short timeframe to meet the regulatory deadline. This is the second major win in the Latin American market for eServGlobal in 2008 and continues our strong growth in the region. eServGlobal will also deliver other applications leveraging off the NumberMax infrastructure, allowing Nextel Mexico to support multiple solutions concurrently and offer differentiated services to its customers.”
