Ensim Announces Major Upgrade of Unify Service Delivery Platform for Hosted IP and Application Services

9:14 pm   -   February 21st, 2006

Ensim Corporation, the leading supplier of service enablement and automation software for Hosted IP and Application Services, today announced a major upgrade of its service delivery platform, Ensim Unify 3.0. This latest release of Ensim’s comprehensive multi-service delivery platform for Web, VoIP, Messaging and Collaboration services includes a host of new features and platform enhancements to simplify and speed the delivery of converged hosted services.

Ensim Unify is the industry’s first widely deployed and proven service delivery platform, enabling service providers to centrally create, control and deliver hosted IP and application services. Based on a highly modular, scalable and extensible carrier-grade architecture and developed in close collaboration with Microsoft, Ensim Unify is specifically designed to address the most critical business and operational challenges of deploying and reselling hosted services, including:

– Centralized resource management and flow through provisioning of multiple services

– Empowering end users and partners with role-based delegated administration and access

– Seamless management and creation of multi-tier reseller sales channels

– Monitoring and metering of service moves, adds and changes for billing and reporting purposes

Ensim Unify 3.0 features more than fifteen pre-configured IP and application services, called Unify Service Managers. Unify’s pre-packaged Service Managers enable carriers to rapidly create, bundle and launch revenue-generating hosted services, such as hosted Microsoft Exchange and Windows-based web hosting, at lower cost and with unmatched reliability, flexibility and speed. Unify 3.0 has also been updated to conform to the current versions of both the Microsoft Solution for Hosted Messaging and Collaboration Version 3.5 and the Microsoft Solution for Windows-based Hosting Version 3.5.

“Since replacing our in-house solution with Ensim Unify, TELUS has been able to automate many aspects of our Hosted Exchange and Windows SharePoint Services offering targeted at SMB customers. Through Ensim, we have been able to quickly meet our customer’s increasing demand for new features and capabilities, while lowering our operational costs,” said Nathan Pitka, Director Product Marketing at TELUS. “The new features, scalability and extensibility provided in Unify 3.0 will enable us to continue to rapidly grow our business and further improve our first to market advantage.”

“With the Microsoft Solution for Hosted Messaging and Collaboration Version 3.5, service providers gain new revenue streams and improve customer satisfaction through a rich set of messaging and collaboration applications,” said Pascal Martin, general manager of Worldwide Hosting at Microsoft Corp. “Ensim’s latest release of Unify continues to provide our industry partners with the key capabilities they need to speed deployment and maintain a tight rein on cost.”

Highlights and Enhancements in Ensim Unify 3.0 include:

    –  Scalability and Performance — Extensive testing, updates and
optimization of the core platform have resulted in a 10x
        improvement in performance and scalability.

    –  Extensibility and Integration — A new Web Services API
dramatically simplifies and speeds the integration effort with
existing billing, order management, CRM and other OSS/BSS
        applications.

    –  Usage Monitoring and Reporting — Enhanced configuration of
alerts and notifications, configurable thresholds for resource
quotas and advanced search capabilities provide fine-grain
        control over monitoring and reporting.

    –  Simplified Administration User Interface — A new UI provides
simplified access to the most commonly used administrative
functions. Users can specify their preference to view the new
or classic UI, or toggle between the different views at
        anytime.

    –  Resource Management and Overselling — Unify’s resource
management can now be configured (if enabled), to
oversell/oversubscribe a given resource or service for more
efficient utilization of existing server capacity.

    –  Unify Service Manager Updates — All Service Managers benefit
from the core platform enhancements as well as several new
service-specific features, and have been updated to support
        hosting the following applications:

        –  Microsoft Exchange Server 2003

        –  Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 2.0

        –  Microsoft Live Communications Server 2005

        –  Web site hosting

        –  Database hosting
“As the most widely deployed service delivery platform supporting a rich set of converged IP and application services available in the market today, it is critical that we continue to provide the feature set, robustness and scalability required to stay well ahead of our customers growth curve,” said Sandip Gupta, President and Chief Executive Officer at Ensim. “Unify 3.0 centers around proactively enhancing the platform to meet our customers’ needs as well as providing unsurpassed reliability and capacity to scale to any number of converged services.”
