Cox Communications Implements Intec Billing Convergent Mediation

7:43 am   -   February 26th, 2007

Intec Billing, a worldwide provider of business and operations support systems (BSS/OSS) for fixed, mobile and next-generation networks, has recently announced the implementation of Intec Convergent Mediation by US-based Cox Communications for its billing mediation replacement project to support its telephony and wireless services. Intec Convergent Mediation provides key functionality for companies adopting an IMS architecture.

Ron Whited, executive director, MIS – Telephony OSS at Cox Communications, said, “Cox has been leveraging Intec’s core mediation functionality as the pre-processor for our carrier access billing solution. We selected Intec as our full mediation platform because the architecture of Intec Convergent Mediation inherently enables the support of any service offering, allowing Cox to offer and bill for new services and service bundles.”

Intec is the world’s leading provider of convergent, multi-service mediation technology, with many of the largest and most innovative carriers relying on Intec Convergent Mediation to collect and process usage information from their networks. From high-volume, fixed line networks processing hundreds of millions of calls a day, to the latest 3G, IP/Next Generation and IMS-ready networks, Intec Mediation is the proven, reliable, fast-to-market solution for over 200 carriers worldwide.

“As more and more service providers look to deploy VoIP offerings, the number of requests for support of softswitch technology, has increased. Intec customers easily integrate softswitches and other devices into their network environments by leveraging the library of interfaces provided and network protocols supported in Intec Convergent Mediation. Intec Convergent Mediation also provides modules that are critical in addressing the complexity of IP usage records for assured revenue,” said Rick Woods, Intec vice president of product management.

Benchmarked at more than a billion events per day, Intec Convergent Mediation’s exceptional performance is married to low hardware requirements. Adding this to its flexibility to handle any switch, router, service or technology with proven reliability, it’s understandable why Intec Mediation provides low cost of ownership and is the strategic platform of choice for carriers and service providers.
