Comptel Enhances Its IMS Suite

10:10 pm   -   November 28th, 2006

Comptel Corporation (OMX Helsinki: CTL1V), the leading Operational Support System (OSS) software vendor for convergent mediation, charging, provisioning and network inventory, has added its network inventory and its identifier management products to its proven suite of IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) compliant solutions. These new additions complete Comptel’s IMS lifecycle management capability, which already included mediation, charging, provisioning and activation. Comptel is also already involved in deploying IMS projects with fixed and mobile operators in Europe, Africa and Asia.

IMS is a standardised network architecture that allows operators to provide multimedia services. IMS is seen as key to delivering the next generation services that will enable operators to increase revenue and reduce customer churn. As a result, many service-providers are currently considering implementing IMS, and a few are pioneering the deployment of this architecture.

While the OSS industry has mostly focused on issues related to charging for IMS-based services, Comptel has developed solutions that cover the complete life-cycle, including planning the network; managing numbers and other identifiers (such as IP addresses); provisioning the services; collecting usage data and finally charging for services.

Ms. Arnhild Schia, Senior Vice President, Market Development at Comptel says: “We believe Comptel has established a real lead in OSS for IMS. Whereas many software vendors are talking theoretically about how their solutions would work with IMS, Comptel is already involved in projects to deliver our solutions in an IMS environment. We have already gained real, practical experience of the advantages, as well as an understanding of the challenges involved in deploying IMS. This expertise will be of great benefit to our existing and future customers.”
