Comptel Dynamic OSS Serves as Cornerstone of BTC’s Next Generation Network

7:14 am   -   April 22nd, 2009

Comptel Corporation (OMX Helsinki: CTL1V), the leading vendor of dynamic Operations Support System (OSS) software, has recently announced that Bahamas Telecommunications Company (BTC) has selected the Comptel Dynamic OSS suite to bridge its new IP-based platform with its billing support system.

Since 2002, Comptel Convergent Mediation Solution and Comptel Provisioning and Activation Solution have provided BTC with the flexibility and reliability it required to handle TDMA, CDMA and GSM services. These solutions will now provide the stability the operator needs to deliver and charge for advanced telephony, data, video and wireless services, while eliminating legacy network maintenance costs.

“BTC has been the predominant service provider in the Bahamas for many years,” said Ms. Nickola Dawkins, CIO, BTC. “We needed a comprehensive, stable platform to continue our longstanding history of efficiently and seamlessly delivering new, high-quality offerings. Comptel and its state-of-the-art solutions have helped BTC with service mediation, provisioning and activation for many years—and have proven to be capable of serving as the cornerstone for our next generation network.”
Comptel Convergent Mediation Solution manages the collection and transformation of data and transactions from any network type to any OSS/BSS, eliminating the need for multiple mediation platforms. Comptel Provisioning and Activation Solution automates service fulfillment processes through the entire workflow, helping operators to control costs, reduce manual errors and deliver services to subscribers without delay.

“With the rapidly changing telecommunications market, it is more important than ever before for service providers to maintain their competitive advantage,” said Mr. Brad Niven, vice president, North America, Comptel. “Our solutions have made a huge difference for BTC, and are the reason the operator continues to expand its business with Comptel Dynamic OSS. We are pleased to build upon the partnership with BTC, and are committed to strengthening its OSS in the IP era.”

Comptel will be exhibiting at TM Forum Management World 2009 6 – 8 May 2009, in Nice, France (stand: 88).
