Comarch Enhances Satellite DTH Services with IPTV Solution

7:52 am   -   July 29th, 2008

Comarch announces new IPTV solution intended for Direct-To-Home (DTH) operators by allowing them to offer interactive TV services over a telecom infrastructure.

With Comarch’s solution, DTH and telecom operators can work together to offer IPTV with information services, online shopping, and other exciting TV services, which are based on interactivity and high-quality multimedia content.

“This new solution is based on our innovative IPTV middleware and components provided by leading vendors of CAS/DRM, VoD, Head-end solutions, and Set-Top Boxes. Thanks to our Comarch NGTV Middleware, not only can operators provide access to live TV channels and VoD content, but they can also deliver third-party interactive TV services, a fully customized user interface and targeted interactive advertisements. The solution’s flexible and open architecture offers an excellent opportunity for building new business models and leveraging cooperation between DTH operators and Telco companies,” said Lukasz Luzar, a Product Manager working on Value-Added Services for telecommunications at Comarch SA.

By deploying this solution, operators can expand their potential to generate new revenue streams based on monthly subscription fees, distribution of on-demand multimedia content, provision of third-party premium services, and targeting using personalized advertisements.

The Comarch NGTV solution also supports the IPTV Virtual Network Enabler (IPTV-VNE) and Operator (IPTV-VNO) business models allowing internet portals, content providers/aggregators and other strong non-telco brands to start IPTV services.
