Over 150 Carriers are Leveraging Business Information Exchange to Reduce Costs, Increase Visibility, and Strengthen Overall Intercarrier Business Relationships

iXLink ®, announced that more than one million business transactions have been processed through iXLink. More than 150 carriers worldwide are now using iXLink to automatically exchange business information with their trading partners.

Founded in conjunction with some of the world’s largest carriers as a neutral business exchange service for the telecom industry, iXLink reduces the costs and complexities associated with interconnection including the purchase and sales processes; international dial code management; billing; invoice validation and settlement. iXLink’s flexible design supports fixed, mobile and VoIP service providers of any size, location or technical sophistication. By electronically exchanging business data and documents, carriers can streamline their interconnection management processes as well as reduce the complexity and administrative costs surrounding daily interconnect transactions.

Last month, iXLink introduced its newest service, iXLink Price List Distribution, that automates the selling process for international wholesale voice. This robust offer management and workflow solution allows service providers to simplify and automate the sales processes within their wholesale interconnect business. The service manages the distribution of international hubbing and refile price lists by applying customized formatting and ensuring the automatic distribution of the price lists in XLS or CSV formats via email. Based on the configuration chosen by the seller, the price lists can be further enhanced with additional data including time band definitions, rounding rules, destination changes and rate change indicators.

“iXLink is fundamentally redefining how the world’s carriers conduct business with one another,” said Don Lynch, CEO of Telarix. “By providing electronic delivery, transmission and analysis of the multitude of interconnect business documents service providers receive each month, carriers are reducing the costs and complexity associated with managing today’s interconnect agreements.”

Recently the Yankee Group called iXLink an effective solution to reduce miscommunication and lost data in the telecom industry. A copy of the Yankee Group report can be available at the iXLink website: http://www.ixlink.com

About iXLink

Global Electronic Business Exchange Efficiently Handles Interconnect Transactions for Telecom Service Providers

Verizon Business became a member of iXLink, as announced by Telarix, Inc. XLink, founded in conjunction with a number of the world’s leading telecom providers, enables service providers to quickly and efficiently access and share business information among their trading partners.

Being a leading provider of advanced communications solutions for enterprise and government customers, Verizon Business is one of the three operating units of Verizon Communications, (NYSE:VZ), and has offices in 75 countries and six continents. The Gartner Inc., a leading industry analyst firm, recently placed Verizon Business in the Leaders quadrant of the European network service providers.

Today, the increasing complexity and volume of price lists, invoices, declarations and other business documents, combined with the variety of data formats now being used, has created a challenging environment for service providers. Most are finding that they must devote substantial resources to track, format, validate, process and manage these documents and transactions with each business partner.

An open community of telecom carriers, iXLink, enables carriers to efficiently exchange business information. By electronically exchanging business data and documents, carriers can streamline their interconnection management processes as well as reduce the complexity and administrative costs surrounding daily interconnect transactions.

“We are pleased to have Verizon Business as a member of the iXLink community,” said Don Lynch, CEO of Telarix. “The establishment of iXLink provides an innovative intercarrier exchange service that will foster a more robust wholesale market while enabling service providers to streamline the existing interconnect processes.”

About iXLink

Telarix, Inc., the leading provider of Interconnect Business Optimization (IBO) and settlement solutions for content providers, IP service providers and global fixed and mobile operators, has established iXLink, a global electronic business network for the telecom industry. Founded in conjunction with some of the world’s largest carriers, iXLink provides a secure, reliable business-to-business information exchange platform that enables service providers to quickly and efficiently access and share business documents among their trading partners.

Today, service providers must manage business connections with hundreds of other international carriers, each of which is sending multiple rate and dial-code change notifications as well as invoices, declarations and dispute letters each month. However, the lack of widely accepted standards in this business, together with the increasing volume of information exchanged between the carriers, has caused a significant increase in the daily operations workload. As a result, the costly, labor intensive processes and legacy systems used to manage these interconnect agreements in the past are now struggling to meet today’s dynamic business requirements.

iXLink, which is designed as an open service platform for use by all service providers, enables carriers to easily and effectively conduct business with one another. As an neutral business exchange service for the telecom industry, iXLink reduces the costs and complexities associated with interconnection including the purchase and sales processes; international dial code management; billing; invoice validation and settlement. iXLink’s flexible design supports fixed, mobile and VoIP service providers of any size, location or technical sophistication. By electronically exchanging business data and documents, carriers can streamline their interconnection management processes as well as reduce the complexity and administrative costs surrounding daily interconnect transactions.

“In today’s competitive market, service providers are seeking new ways to reduce costs and increase the efficiency of their interconnect business,” said Philip Marshall,

Senior Vice President, Enabling Technologies – Telecom Solutions at Yankee Group. “By directly linking the world’s carriers and their interconnect processes, iXLink creates a paradigm shift in the market that will enable carriers to significantly reduce costs, increase visibility and control over interconnect transactions as well as strengthen overall intercarrier business relationships.”

One of the first services available through iXLink is Price List Receipt which automates the buy and sell transactions among service providers related to international wholesale voice. A typical carrier has agreements with hundreds of other carriers, each of which is sending multiple rate change notifications each month. Each offer can contain pricing for hundreds to as many as 1,000 international destinations forcing carriers to track as many as 500,000 details per month, per trading partner.

iXLink Price List Receipt enables service providers to have all of their trading partners’ price lists automatically validated and translated into a single format and electronically delivered in near real time, eliminating the costly manual processes and financial risks associated with managing large volumes of cost data. Driven by a state-of-the-art analysis engine and flexible import adaptors, iXLink supports a wide variety of data formats ranging from Microsoft Excel to XML to CSV. As a result, buyers can use iXLink to connect with hundreds of suppliers, regardless of their preferred document format.

When a price list is received, iXLink immediately time-stamps and validates each price list against the specific data template established for each unique seller. The seller is automatically notified of any ambiguous data or errors, eliminating the potential for disputes or accidental cost overruns. The system also enables buyers to apply user-defined rules to each price list in order to meet their internal business objectives and obtain greater financial controls.

Once the price list is validated, iXLink automatically translates and converts the price list into the buyer’s preferred format and sends it via VPN, secure FTP or e-mail to the subscribed buyer, enabling routing optimization to begin within minutes of receipt by iXLink. As a result, the buyer’s purchasing team can focus on high value business activities rather than spending costly time on data formatting, validation and analysis.

“The creation of iXLink is a direct response to some of the largest challenges facing the telecom industry,” said Don Lynch, CEO of Telarix. “By creating an industry-wide standard for intercarrier exchange of business documents, iXLink will improve collaboration between carriers while reducing the costs associated with today’s labor intensive interconnect processes.”

Telarix, Inc., a leading provider of Interconnect Business Optimization (IBO) and settlement solutions for content providers, IP service providers and global fixed and mobile operators, has announced that Portugal Telecom (NYSE:PT) will use iXBill’s pre-billing and accounting capabilities to eliminate potential revenue leakage and streamline its billing operations. By integrating iXBill with the carrier’s existing main billing system, Portugal Telecom can efficiently complete payment processing and manage the accounting for any disputed amounts which might arise.

As part of Telarix’s comprehensive portfolio of interconnect and settlement solutions, iXBill™ ensures the entire interconnect billing process is fully tracked and captured, providing service providers an unprecedented view of their revenue streams while identifying critical financial trends. Unlike many of the billing-only focused interconnect solutions available in the market today, iXBill provides embedded revenue assurance capabilities, leveraging its integration with other key carrier business functions including agreement management; route optimization; pricing; and audit and reconciliation. This level of sophistication ensures that all billable activities are accurately captured, rated and billed.

“To enhance our revenue assurance capabilities, Portugal Telecom was interested in a state-ofthe-art solution that provided a holistic view of our business and could be integrated easily with our existing back-office billing and financial management systems,” said José Morais de Oliveira, Director of International Wholesale at Portugal Telecom. “By leveraging iXBill, Portugal Telecom now has a comprehensive tool which will provide the critical data required to optimize our billing processes and ensure the accuracy of each interconnect statement.”

“On average, revenue leakage is costing global service providers between two and seven percentof annual revenues,” said Don Lynch. “iXBill’s next generation billing capabilities provides business savvy carriers like Portugal Telecom with real-time access to the business-critical information required to accurately and effectively track settlement charges and enable partner invoice reconciliation.”

iXBill is part of Telarix’s iXTools™, a powerful suite of software modules that enables carriers to reduce costs and increase profitability across their interconnect networks. The Yankee Group named Telarix as one of the only interconnect solutions providers to address the four critical value areas for service providers: Route Optimization; Pricing and Margin Management; Billing; and Verification, Audit and Reconciliation.

Telarix™, a leading provider of Interconnect Business Optimization (IBO) and settlement solutions for content providers, IP service providers and global fixed and mobile operators, today announced that General Post and Telecommunications Company (GPTC), the main telecom operator in Libya, has selected Telarix’s iXTools™ as part of a strategic effort to expand its international carrier business and enhance the overall performance of its interconnect systems. The contract also marks Telarix’s expansion into Africa and the Middle East and solidifies the company’s position as the market leader among providers of interconnect business optimization and settlement solutions to the international telecommunications industry.

“GPTC has an ambitious plan to play a major and strategic role in the voice termination market worldwide and specifically in the Pan-African area,” said Kamal Farhat, Director of International Carrier Business at GPTC.

GPTC will leverage Telarix’s next generation routing optimization solutions, iXRoute™
and iXTranslate™, to further streamline and automate the carrier’s routing processes. These solutions eliminate the limitations associated with legacy Least Cost Routing (LCR) products by allowing carriers to define business and network requirements to financially optimize their network routing.

Farhat went on to say that “It was fundamental that we deploy a next generation interconnect optimization solution that was flexible, integrated and scaleable so that we can quickly and efficiently expand our hubbing business. After an extensive analysis of the existing business operation systems on the market, Telarix was the only company which offered a comprehensive solution that would enable GPTC to define and administer a variety of complex agreement types such as volume, threshold, bilateral, and hubbing agreements in order to maximize the revenue potential of our business.”

iXTranslate enables automated route provisioning by converting optimized network route guides into switch level instructions— allowing GPTC to activate routing changes directly with their Siemens switches. The software module supports traditional voice switches from the industry’s leading manufacturers as well as IP softswitches now being deployed by major international carriers. As a result, GPTC is able to make routing changes in minutes rather than hours, allowing them to react quickly and effectively to potential financial risks, opportunities or changing network conditions.

“We were also impressed by Telarix’s dynamic team of seasoned telecom professionals,” said Farhat. “Their knowledge and expertise of international traffic management, route optimization and settlement has proven to be an invaluable resource to the entire organization.”

iXTools will provide GPTC complete visibility into all aspects of their interconnect business as well as the ability to control operations with a touch of a button. Telarix’s iXTools is a powerful suite of software modules that enables carriers to reduce costs and increase profitability across their interconnect networks. By analyzing both revenue and cost information associated with telecom traffic in near real-time, carriers can optimize network routing and identify financial risks and opportunities while ensuring that every call is captured, rated and billed accurately. Three of the world’s five largest telecom providers depend on iXTools to optimize their interconnect business. “We are excited to work with this leading Pan-African carrier,” said Don Lynch, CEO of Telarix. “GPTC’s implementation of iXTools will enable them to grow revenues and improve the performance of their interconnect business while reducing the overall costs of operation.”

Recently, Telarix was recognized by Yankee Group as one of the only interconnect solutions providers to address the four critical value areas for wholesale carriers: Route Optimization; Pricing and Margin Management; Billing; and Verification, Audit and Reconciliation.

Telarix, Inc., a provider of Interconnect Business Optimization (IBO) and settlement solutions for content providers, IP service providers and global fixed and mobile operators, today announced a new corporate strategy designed to combine its award winning interconnect business optimization and settlement solutions with a service-focused offering to provide the industry’s most comprehensive solution — uniquely tailored to address service providers’ most critical business issues.

As part of the new strategy, Telarix will offer its interconnect business optimization and settlement solutions over a Flexible Delivery Platform, which includes a new hosted offering called iXTools ASP(TM). Now carriers can choose either an outsourced, hosted or traditional software license solution to improve revenue assurance, optimize routing, manage complex agreements and facilitate financial traffic management.

“Offering a solution such as this in both a software-based and a services-based model helps tailor the end product to meet a carrier’s exact needs,” commented Paul Hughes, Vice President of Communications Software Strategies with the Yankee Group. “Telarix’s Flexible Delivery Platform strategy demonstrates the company’s commitment to meeting global communications carriers’ specific OSS/BSS strategies, each of which may differ based on past investment history and technology acquisition and usage preferences, and bolsters the company’s position in the global OSS/BSS space.”

This unprecedented offering provides traditional global incumbents, emerging service providers, and dominant regional players of fixed, mobile and VoIP services a comprehensive solution tailored to their specific business environment and requirements. Three of the world’s five largest telecom providers already depend on iXTools to optimize their interconnect business.

Telarix is also dedicating substantial research and development resources to maintain its leadership in delivering the industry’s most innovative interconnect solutions, including those specifically designed to address the challenges associated Next Generation Networks. The company recently announced the availability of iXBill(TM), a robust and highly flexible interconnect billing system that allows carriers to eliminate revenue leakage by supporting interconnect agreements with other carriers, regardless of the level of complexity and the type of network. In addition, Telarix extended the flexibility of iXTools with support on Oracle Real Application Clusters 10g, enabling carriers to leverage all the benefits of the industry’s leading interconnect solution regardless of their operating environment and database platform. Telarix’s commitment to product innovation was recognized this month by TeleStrategies, publisher of Billing World & OSS Today magazine, when it announced that Telarix was a finalist in the Achievement in Innovation and Customer Success Story categories for its Sixth Annual Excellence Awards.

To maintain its proven track record of 100% on-time, on-budget implementations and superior customer care, Telarix is further enhancing its Professional Service and Customer Support organizations to offer the breadth and depth of technical expertise required to meet the specific business needs of each individual service provider, regardless of size or location. Staffed by subject matter experts with extensive knowledge and experience in routing optimization, interconnect management and revenue assurance, these organizations can tailor a solution to meet each service provider’s unique operating environment- ensuring the entire interconnect business is optimized for maximum performance and profitability. Finally, Telarix will leverage partnerships with other industry leaders and regional experts to offer service providers the most comprehensive, world-class solution that can be implemented globally and supported locally.

“The tremendous growth in wireless content and migration to IP centric networks is presenting service providers with a number of challenges including effective management of interconnect agreements as well as the ability to quickly and efficiently bill and collect payments from multiple partners,” said Don Lynch, CEO of Telarix. “The company’s state-of-the-art technology and extensive expertise in the international interconnect carrier and OSS/BSS software markets makes Telarix uniquely positioned to offer service providers value-added solutions that not only address today’s demands but are flexible enough to meet tomorrow’s challenges. We believe a consultative approach, combined with innovative solutions, will enable service providers to reduce costs, drive top line revenue growth and gain the sustainable competitive advantage required to succeed in this dynamic marketplace.”

Telarix has been recognized by Yankee Group as one of the only interconnect solutions providers to address the four critical value areas for service providers: Route Optimization; Pricing and Margin Management; Billing; and Verification, Audit and Reconciliation.

The conference is being held May 2-5 at the Miami Beach Convention Center.

iXBill(TM), one element of Telarix’s comprehensive revenue assurance solution, is a robust and highly flexible interconnect billing system that allows carriers to eliminate revenue leakage by ensuring that every call is captured, rated and invoiced correctly. Unlike many of the billing-only focused interconnect solutions available in the market today, iXBill is integrated with other key carrier business functions including agreement management; route optimization; pricing; and audit and reconciliation. This level of sophistication ensures that all billable activities are accurately captured, rated and billed while allowing service providers to support a variety of agreement types and rating scenarios including the multi-party settlements and sophisticated revenue sharing partnerships common in today’s dynamic voice, data, and IP interconnect market.

Three of the world’s five largest telecom providers depend on Telarix’s iXTools to optimize their interconnect business.

Joerg Debus, Vice President of Projects & Strategy of Voice Services for Deutsche Telekom’s International Carrier Sales & Solutions (ICSS) group, and Amir Yazdanpanah, Chief Operating Officer for Telarix, will make a joint case study presentation entitled “The Changing Face of the Interconnect Space”. The session will address the challenges associated with the interconnect business and how interconnect business optimization solutions can improve carrier operations. The session is scheduled for Thursday, May 4 at 3:15 – 4:00 pm.

Telarix has also been selected by TeleStrategies, publisher of Billing World & OSS Today magazine, as a finalist in the Achievement in Innovation and Customer Success Story categories for its Sixth Annual Excellence Awards. One winner per category will be selected and announced at the Billing & OSS World 2006 Excellence Awards reception on Wednesday, May 3.
